Surely folks have a comment.

Mine is from before address even started. Couple of talking heads were discussing topics and decided immigration and health care would be the most important and controversial.

One commented "Both issues will require legislation and even though Republicans control both houses it would be a challenge to get anything passed".

Of course it will be a challenge. Legislators put their own interest ahead of that of the constituency, much like some sort of nobility. As long as this is the case no progress toward freedom and individual liberty will be made.

He is doing well.

He called out islamic terrorism, he called out illegal immigration, he salutes the military and the sacrifices they have made.

The last guy (I have to spit every time I say or write his name so I stopped saying and writing it) couldn't even say the words "islamic terrorism" because he was so busy supporting it.

I really enjoyed how the Dems demonstrated how they're no friend of this country. They're going to lose even more seats in the mid-terms.

I can't begin to tell you how much I hope that is true.

It was really, really strange - not his points, but the presentation.

Of course the same held true for the prior POTUS' addresses and speeches. And the one before that. And... the one before that.

These are rallies. They're meaningless and not much better than what they say on the campaign trail.

Lot's of 'what I'm gonna do' and not a lot of 'how I'm gonna do it'.

On the positive side: Trump sounded a lot more presidential tonight. A little more statesman and a lot less TV and celebrity personality. This bodes well for his efforts.

How so? By sitting and not applauding? Or was there some other indicator I missed?

The sitting and not applauding DEFINITELY isn't anything new, unless we want to look at the Joint Chiefs and The Supremes. They never do the 'sit-stand-clap-dance'. They actually do their jobs and at least PRESENT themselves as unbiased and objective - regardless of who holds office.

Or was it the after address commentary from the Dems that revealed their traitorous desires to you? Like the retired Governor from Kentucky's speech? Again, that sort of thing is nothing new after an address to congress or a state of the union - regardless of who is running the show.

I'm not sure 'friendship to the country' can really be put on trial here. It is just more political BS.

It was excellent in so many ways, a refreshing departure from the Trump we knew, and as Chris Wallace stated: Tonight, Trump became president of United States. Let's hope President Trump is successful.

And as Trump repeatedly reached out across the isle seeking cooperation, the behavior of congressional Democrats showed what anti-American asshats they are.

I understand the demo's not clapping or standing but I find it hard to believe that their response to the homage to Owen's wife and memory brought the same response. Just heard Ken Buck on the radio and said he was amazed that they responded the way they did even for that part.

The Dems were inviting undocumented immigrants into the speech. If I was a R representative I would have went to the secret service armory to obtain a 30 round magazine and wear it around my neck. Both are illegal I wonder who gets more attention.

Personally, I'd have invited ICE to man the doors ...

ICE would have had a field day with their new directives. :)

Any time Van Jones, Chris Matthews and Rachel Maddow all say something is good, and I agree, I start to get worried. That's never happened until now. I'm worried.

I still think the whole One Treeeeeeellion Dollars for infrastructure thing is a boondoggle. It was a bad idea when Obama did it, and it's a bad idea now.

I was rather impressed with his speech. I agree as someone else pointed out though, a lot of "Here's what I'm going to do" and not a lot of "Here's how I'm going to fix (insert problem here)". On the note of how the Dems reacted to Owen's wife being recognized was nothing more that an excellent example of the left's display of continued hate, discontent, and childish behavior because they "didn't get their way". They are going to push back as hard as possible against President Trump because they are still insanely butt hurt over the election.

I have found my hatred for Liberals has now become even more so since this election.

Honest question. Is anyone actually impressed with this speech, or are they just impressed compared to the not at all impressive previous behavior from Trump?

I don't care what he said or promised.

UNTIL he gets a judge seated or congress passes something and he signs. What ever he says, like any president, doesn't mean squat ;

Yes, I'd stopped even paying attention to Presidential addresses after Billy Boy and Obama but I was told I should watch it by another conservative. Thankfully, DirecTV let me pull it right up and back up to the beginning. I was genuinely impressed by this one. Main reason was that he actually seemed to mean what he said -- they weren't just platitudes designed to hoodwink the public into thinking he cared about military members, common Americans, American values and heritage, etc.

EDIT: For those bitching that he just said what he was going to do and not how, I'm glad it wasn't the typical 2 hour monologue we've come to expect from Clinton or Obama. In addition, he said a long time ago that you don't tell the enemy how you're going to fight him -- he said it in context of the war with ISIS and al Qaeda but it applies equally to the Dems and the war on America they've been waging for the past several decades.

Example: I saw the GOP is going after the slush fund the leftists in the DOJ have used to fund activist groups by using court agreements to drop charges if banks and other corporations made donations to "charities" -- with most of those "charities" being leftist activist groups and no accountability required for said funds.

Being honest about his goals and objectives is good enough for an address like that, he can flow the details out later if it makes sense.
