Trying not to get wrapped around the axle here, but here goes:
I understand the theory, say on competition guns, of wanting a longer barrel for a longer sight radius (and maybe for more velocity in trying to get to a power factor).
However, if you go with the red-dot optic mounted on your pistol, is barrel length now far less important, if not now immaterial? Say, for instance, the M&P C.O.R.E. comes in 4.25" and 5"--from a practical perspective, aside from velocity, would there be any reason to go for the longer barrel?
(or MOS Glocks, etc...)
