The internet is the devil. I need to learn to stay off of it.

I'm anxiously awaiting the arrival of the new CZ striker fired handgun. In the meantime, I've noticed quite a few good deals on some law enforcement trade in pistols. For $299 I'm contemplating picking up a S&W M&P in 40 caliber.

Now, I'm not really a 40 S&W fan but thought maybe a replacement barrel in 357 Sig might be kind of neat.

I'm afraid the price of the pistol ($300) plus transfer costs and background check ($26) plus the 357 barrel ($85) plus some extra magazines ($100) and possibly some Apex parts ($80) is going to have me buried deeper into this cheap handgun than I really want to be.

I always have to have something around to tinker with and I'm kind of between projects right now.

I think I need a cheaper hobby.

But what do I do in the meantime? Shoot 40 cal?

I'd rather buy my wife tampons than be caught standing in the check out line with a box of 40 S&W.

Plain brown box delivered to your door...... Better than being Bi-calibered.........

You forgot the threaded barrel in 9mm so you truly have an all-around pistol ...

I say you'll be dumping that 40 boat anchor before end of march.

I know the feeling. I'm thinking about a used noveske upper. 12.5 crusader with a 9" larue hg. All for 599. Thinking I can talk them down a little. Good news is there would be little mods on this for me.

Save that $300 for a holster and extra magazines you'll need for the CZ. I wouldn't buy an M&P, especially in 40.

Thanks, guys. I made it through the night without ordering it. If I can hold out until they go out of stock this won't even be an issue.

That's the answer to the dilemma. Second hand / used 4tay's are a bad investment. Hopefully he'll have the strength and sense to not but one while waiting for the CZ.

[LOL]

That's why I order my .40SW from SGAmmo in a discrete brown box. No one is the wiser.

Save your money Ray. For a little more you can pick up a new gun in a caliber you want. Having bought several .40SW Sigs over the years I'm liking 9MM more which means I have duplicate guns.

My next pistol will be the X/M17 in 9MM when Sig puts them out. Already saving up if I can avoid blowing it on a M1903 this year.

.357 SIG?????

Who would shoot that? [Sarcasm2]

I was recently told that we may be moving to 9mm for our issue. Calibers are so trendy when you apparently have all that tax payer money to spend. [hahhah-no] I asked when this will happen and was told; "Not during what is left of your career."

I often wish we had been issued 9mm when we moved to semi-auto pistols. It would have made most of my handgun and reloding choices so much less expensive.

Buy what will make you happy Ray. You will sell it later and make someone else happy. Spread the love. [Flower]

I love the 357 Sig cartridge, and I think the M&P would be a solid platform to run it through. That being said, unless you are planning to reload for it, I probably wouldn't bother. I remember going to Walmart during the great ammo shortage, and 357 Sig was the only thing on the shelves, they don't even carry it anymore.

Well, made it through the day and didn't order anything.

Probably helps that I worked a twelve hour shift and then stayed over another half hour dealing with some equipment issues.

How can I talk you out of buying something when I can’t stop myself from doing it? If I tell you to do something, just do the opposite, maybe that will work.

Here’s a few rules I follow; If you like buy it, if it’s cheap enough buy it, if it’s pretty buy it, if you use to have one buy it, if your friend has one buy it, you get the idea.

Sounds like you were subconsciously working enough over time to afford this to me.

On a serious note, if you can wait a week to buy something, you probably don't need it and will be onto the next thing by then anyway. Now, I'm not one of those faggy .40 M&P guys, but with a new CZ coming in, that .40 M&P is going to be used to prop your back door open in no time.

357 sig is a huge pain to reload imo. Stick with 40. Most of the 45 stopping g power and most of the 9 capacity. Perfection. Start arguing now.

If you're going to have an autoloader in a caliber that starts with a "4", there's only one answer. .45 ACP.

Lol. My wife is a knitter. I know she spends more on her hobby than I do on mine.
