View Full Version : Are you ready for some baseball
I am pretty hopeful for the Rockies this year. What are your thoughts?
Oh yeah. GO WHEAT RIDGE!!! [rockon]

Bring it on! Can't wait, not sure how optimistic I am about the Rockies but it's always great seeing the other teams come to town. As much as I hate going in to downtown I do enjoy a nice summer night at the ballpark (I take light rail so getting in and out is pretty painless). A cold beer, a Rocky dog, usually with one of my sons-none of my past girlfriends liked baseball lol-it's a great time. The grandmunchkin got to go to his first game last year when his dad was recognized for his military service and we got club level seats.
I was a fair player through high school, 3rd base, but couldn't hit to save my life lol. Still love the game. I always take my younger son to a game for his birthday. In 2007 we were there when Tulowitzki had his unassisted triple play against the Braves. Memories for life.
I'm think the Rockies will be at least even this year (81 wins - 81 loses) and cautiously optimistic that they will be in the hunt for a wild-card spot into August. Jon Gray and Tyler Anderson can both be front of the rotation pitchers. Tyler Chatwood was amazingly effective on the road last year but didn't pitch so well at home. He is a free agent at the end of this year and might be gone by the trade deadline of the Rockies are not in contention. Chad Bettis came along well last year and had the ability to be a number 3 or 4 starter. Unfortunately, his cancer has relapsed and his future is uncertain. That leaves two starting rotation spots to be filled by rookies. The bullpen should be much better this year with Ottovino returning as the closer and some veteran additions that are expected to be more effective than last years late-inning crew.
The infield should be fine defensively and offensively. I'm confident that Ian Desmond will be fine at first base even though he's never played that position before Spring Training. Blackmon is center field and Cargo in right field will be solid in the field and at the plate. With Dahl injured, the only question is who will play left field - Parra was not good last year and Ramiel Tapia is an interestng but unproven rookie. At catcher, Wolters is strong defensively and Murphy is adequate with the glove and has power.
Go Rockies!
Been watching sprig training, saw tebow get plunked the other day I lold. I'm a Red Sox fan, sad they won't get out here this season. Can't wait for the season to start.

I haven't been following Tebow. How is he doing?
Sad that the Red Sox won't be in town this year. Do hope the Rockies can turn things around. If not they are just wasting a lot of good, young talent.
Oh & btw, as for Tebow I think they said he has a new gf he was unaware of on last night's news.
The regular season can't start soon enough. I don't have high expectations for the Rockies this year.
I always have high expectations of the Rockies, but usually diminishes as the year goes on and the injuries pile up. But I will still watch most games. I still will not buy a season ticket as I did for 16 years, because of the metal detectors at the stadium. They continue to call me to get me to renew my ticket package purchase. Didn’t go to a game all last year. Downtown is place I don’t go unarmed and parking sucks.
Go Rockies, except June 6 and 7. Will be there with all the kids and grandkids. 16 of us rooting for another Tribe run to the WS.

Tebow stinks at baseball. In the game I watched he struck out and hit into two double plays.
We have tickets for May 5 game. I think the Rockies are going to be a good team this year. Jon Gray is one heck of a pitcher. We were at the game last year where he pitched a 16 K complete game shutout. What a performance.
First game tomorrow against the Brewers. Need to try get my son and I to one of the upcoming Dodger games.
I'm going to opening day. Got good seats but had to pay way too much for them.
I predict the Rockies will do better than the Avs. [LOL]

Lewis and Clark State College is hosting the NAIA World Series thru 2021. LCSC has won the championship 18 times. They have some pretty good baseball here, even if it ain't the big leagues.

Oof.
I'm ready. Big Brewers fan here, born/raised in Milwaukee.
Have no expectation / knowledge on the Rox, although they seem to hit the Crew pretty well. Everyone does, but Rox feels like more than most.
Free admission to the game today at Rockies stadium. Showing on the big screen. Free parking also.
Trevor Story is healthy, Jon Gray looks really good this year too. Arenado needs to quit trying to be a hero, and get some base hits. This ought to be a good year for them.
Rockies pitching is looking pretty good so far. Defensively they look very good as well. Offense is warming up. They look a whole lot better than they did in spring training.

Where are you sitting?
Things are looking pretty good.

Lol. Sorry. Didn't see this. Not that it matters now but we were a few rows up right above the home team dugout.

The season is still young. Don't jinx them.

We were just a few sections to your right. The Rockies have been fun to watch so far.
Yep. Have the game on right now.
My younger son's birthday is near the end of the month. Ever since I can remember I've been taking him to a game for his special day. Haha, he turns 29 this year and we're going Saturday night (hopefully the rain will be long gone by then). We were at the game in 2007 against the Braves to see Tulo's unassisted triple play. Not going to deprive my son of our tradition. Should be fun. Dodgers are giving the Rox a tough time tonight.
Future Rockies Pitcher.

What a great night! Awesome seats, cold beer and a hot dog, good times with my son. Nice folks seated around us, great game; 12-3 Rox over the Giants!! Near the end of the game two idiots ran out on the field so we got a little show as the field security guys ran them down and made some nice tackles LOL. Fortunate that I have great relationships with my sons.
Arenado at the plate:

I'm going to try and make today's game. Trying to see if one of my buddies wants to go with me. Just waiting to hear back from him.
Buddies can't make it but looks like my son and I are going. Should be awesome weather for taking in a game. [Awesom]
I think I am going to snag a couple mid/lower level seats.

My son and I went for the Boulder Valley School District night and got to see Kershaw get double tapped.
Great fun!

Rockies absolutely crushed the Giants these last two games. What a great season they're having so far. My wife and I have tickets for the May 5 game. I know, I know....cinco de mayo. We realized that after the tickets were already purchased.
Anyone have any suggestions on how to get to the park and avoid all the celebration/commotion of that "holiday"? We're planning on getting there early, the game is at 6:40. Hoping to be at the stadium by 5pm.
ray1970, great photo! Seats didn't look too shabby either. jmg-If you were local I'd strongly suggest light rail. Check the RTD website for info on the Rockies Ride buses. Not sure if there's a park and ride spot on the north end of the metro area.

Cinco de mayo on a Friday and the game at a prime party hour. Should be a very vibrant experience before and after the game in regards to parking and such. I have no tips as I think you are screwed no matter when you go.

Shouldn't be that big of an issue. Stay on the highway until you get close to the stadium. Park in one of the designated lots. Most of the stupid stuff will be going on West of the highway on Federal.
We're purchasing valet parking passes here in a few days. $35 is worth not having to hassle with parking.
One good thing about baseball is I didn't see one player taking a knee during the national anthem.
Hey, Ray? Did you get the express written consent of Major League Baseball for that picture? [Coffee]

Always fun to watch a game like that at Coors Field. Every time I go, the Rockies end up doing well, too bad they usually disappoint by the end of the season. Maybe this year will be different.
I got a little sunburnt at the game yesterday. Next time I'll bring sunscreen or maybe go to a night game.
My 7th grader plays on his school team and my 9th grader on JV and usually 2 games a week on Varsity, so I see about 6-7 games a week of them. So I don't watch the Rockies as much as I would like, but they are off to a great start and it is fun to catch a game here and there. That Bullpen looks legit and they seem to have great chemistry as well.
Rockies are kicking ass.
It's a shame they still aren't getting the respect they deserve. Currently sitting with the second best winning percentage in all of baseball and the best in the National League, two of the top three RBI leaders are Rockies, one of the rookie starting pitcher is tied for 2nd with the most wins, and Holland leads the league in saves at 23-0.
But last I looked the "experts" still had seven or eight teams ahead of them favored to make it to or win the World Series. And the all star voting (which we all know is a joke because the "fans" get to vote) seem to be totally overlooking the likes of Blackmon and Reynolds.
Maybe if they win the whole thing this year people will pay more attention next year.

I always enjoyed a Rocks game. Love the stadium.
Best we can do here is the LCSC (Lewis Clark State College) Warriors. They won their third NAIA World Series Championship in a row last Fri (also their 19th World Series Championship) at home here in Lewiston. Couldn't make a game this year, though.

Nailed it. Dare I say I think this is their year?! Just got tix for the family for the July 3 fireworks game, woohoo!

So far this season has continued to be impressive.
Quality starts and stoppers in the bull-pen. They had everything else the last few years as far as talent. Developing young arms and having a coaching staff that knows how to manage the game is another part of the formula. Bud Black continues to impress me.
