Greetings. My family will be moving to the Loveland/Fort Collins area this summer, from Ventura, California. I'm really looking forward to being free of the oppressive gun laws here. Due to my age, moving to Colorado will be my first opportunity to have a "pre-ban" AR-15. Once there, I'll be looking for a place to shoot USPSA, and will want to finally try 3-gun.
My family will be in Loveland next week to get a feel for the town. I'd love to hear some suggestions on what to do, places to eat, gun shops to visit.
Thanks!

Welcome. Make sure to sell all your off list guns for a premium in CA before your move. Buy them here at a discount. =)

I moved from CA in 2009. First suggestion- don't say you're from California. Locals here hate that. I grew up in OC and I'm living in Thornton. Not too far from Loveland. I like it here.
I also just moved out from So Cal. Love it here! I just got a job and my wife is about to get one also. I think I have bought 6 guns in less than 2 months. Cash and carry is great!

Funny, your not the first person to tell me that. We'll have to ditch the California license plates real quick.

Ohh I still have my Huntington Beach sticker on my car. So I get some crap here and there. Also since us Californians hate using the turn signal. Get used to using it. They hate when people don't use it here.
Hello and welcome!
Enjoy your new found freedom! [Beer]

I was born and raised in Ventura, let me know when you are gonna be out here and maybe we can meet up. Gun shops that you wont want to miss are Jensens in loveland, and liberty shooting center. There is also a liberty arms in ft collins that is well worth checking out. What line of work are you in.
I went to school in the Ventura area in the '60's. Loooong time ago. Lot of Hollywood western stars kids in my elementary school. Santa Ana Elementary School, just outside of Oak View. Then De Anza jr. high. My brother went to VHS, but we left before I was up for that.
I can help you out with places to see, eat, shoot, etc. I'm in Fort Collins. Much better than Loveland. Just ask me.

Welcome OP...Moved my family to CO (Monument) from CA last year. Wife and I both grew up in the Thousand Oaks area of Ventura County. We have been in CO almost a year and couldn't be happier.
As another poster stated, if you have any off roster guns...Sell them before you leave CA. I did...I was able to get quite a bit of profit on a few.
Be careful when you finally do get here...As you can go crazy buying new guns since you are not used to having a bit more freedom (I know from experience). You can buy more than 1 handgun at a time....And don't need to sorry about any 1 in 30 BS.

Welcome, I was stationed in CA on military orders for 2 years, and when people ask where I came from I avoid saying CA like the plague. Anyway hope your trip is safe and you settle in fine. Welcome to a free-ish state.

TL'DR, I'll need a new job in CO.
I'm currently a DIRECTV satellite technician, but my job won't transfer to CO. Since DirecTV merged with AT&T, all the tech jobs are union represented. Because the CA union is different from the CO union, I can't transfer and my 13+ years of tenure goes down the drain.
We're moving because of my wife's new job in the medical manufacturing industry.

You will have no problem finding a job. You probly wont get paied the same as in ca but the cost of living is a little cheaper out here. When you are out here make sure to check out Estes park and RMNP. Like I said before let me know when your gonna be in town and hopefully we can meet up. You never know if you are in your mid 30's we might already know each other. Did you go to Buena???

34 years old actually. I went to Hueneme High. Born and raised in Oxnard, but spent the last 7 years in Ventura.
I'll definitely hit you up when I get to CO. Might help ease the transition being shown around by a Ventura County native. [emoji106]

Right on, I was born and raised in Santa Barbara, CA. It's pretty there (when it's not in drought) but I can't see moving back. We've been here since '09 and love it. I think you'll like it here. Jobs are plentiful and everything is growing fast. My advice is buy a home SOON, prices just keep going up. Rent for too long and it'll pass you up.
