View Full Version : Wanenmacher Gun Show Tulsa April 1-2
Heading out tomorrow for the Tulsa gun show. Anyone else happen to be going? Haven't been to it for 8 years. Hope it hasn't changed too much.
I hear it is a wonderful show and there isn't enough time in the day to see it all.
Went in 2012, and it was awesome. Would love to go back and do it at least one more time.
I miss the gunshows at the Astro Hall in Houston. Couldn't hardly get through one of those in a day if you wanted to see everything. Those were real gun shows. I don't recall seeing any beef jerky or candles or women's purses. Unless the purses were designed to carry a gun.
Over 4000 tables. If you go both days all day it's like 15 secs per table
Let us know if you see any screaming deals.
One of my proudest gun show deals was a brand new, military surplus, FN made M-16 barrel. $49. The guy had a barrel full of them. All new in the wrapper. I guess the government didn't need them when they switched from the M-16 to the M4.

always wanted to go. looking forward to a report--are the prices worth it, as opposed to the idiocy that is the tanner or other colorado shows? or is everything jacked?
i would think at 4000 tables/15 seconds per table, you need to make a quick decision on purchase/not purchase, and possibly very little going back to a table for that one gun that was cheaper. or, maybe not.
there'd have to be quite a bit of savings (over bud's, tombstone, prepper, grab-a-gun) to make the trip worthwhile, but it does sound fun

The Tulsa arms show is a bucket list thing if you call your self a gun guy....AT ALL. Six MILES of tables. Went a few years ago, my feet still hurt. It,s an easy day drive from the Denver area. No matter what you're thing is, go at least once.

Tell us all about it. I've been in Okmulgee all week for work and have heard lots of commercials on the radio. I'd like to make it but no time to play.
I hadn't been to the Wanenmacher's Gunshow since 2007. It's changed quite a bit since then. A lot more older guns. I went mainly to observe and wasn't necessarily looking for anything. I knew it wasn't going to be like the early 2000 years with all the surplus ammo and surplus kits but wasn't prepared for the total lack of such things. I saw maybe 3 fal parts sets and a chopped up sten. Ammo was there at the cheapest price you can find on internet. No shipping cost or tax of course. Short answer. If you like old guns this is the place for you. I'm not a expert on prices so can't tell you much. Saw prices on original lever guns that seemed low. Saw prices that seemed high. All in all it led me to believe that there were deals to be found. Saw a lot of old rifles with dealer sold stickers on them going out the door. Missed out on a rolling block. I've been looking for one for a gunsmith project. Guy was walking around with one with a dealer tag of 400$. I would of bought it. No pitting on receiver.
Handled a vp9. 3 mags 575$ Was looking for a p30. Didn't even see one. Seemed like a real lack of love of HK pistols there. On the other hand SIG and Glock dealers everywhere. Still a glut of ar15 rifles and parts. 34$ Anderson lowers. 30$ uppers. Ar's in every color of the rainbow and configuration. Very few modern sporting rifles other than those in the AR family.
I found the show a bit boring. Wishing for the days of AK's and cheap mags. Was hoping to see some surplus ammo. Guess those days really are gone. We walked the show once, voted not to stay for Sunday and instead come home the way of Albuquerque and Taos looking for Navajo tacos and green chile.

Knuckleheads! This is leo shooting leo. (well current or former, still they should know better)
Green said the man who was shot, former TCSO Sgt. Rick Treadwell, had told investigators he did not want charges to be filed. Treadwell identified the shooter as Brian Pounds, a Tulsa County Assessor’s Office employee. Pounds, a former candidate for Tulsa County commissioner, served as a reserve deputy under former Sheriff Stanley Glanz.
Treadwell, Pounds and Skiatook Police Chief Pat Dean were working security at the Wanenmacher’s Tulsa Arms show over the weekend, Treadwell said. The show bills itself as the world’s largest gun show, but stresses that loaded firearms are not allowed inside the Expo Square arena where the show is held.
The Frontier acquired surveillance footage of the shooting on Thursday which shows Pounds remove the handgun from a bag, and handle it for a few seconds before pointing it in the direction of Dean and Treadwell before pulling the trigger.
A flash is visible from the handgun’s muzzle, and Treadwell, seated at a nearby table, immediately leaps from his seat and grabs his hand. Treadwell told The Frontier earlier this week that the bullet struck him in the middle finger, where it remains lodged. He said the bullet ricocheted off the wall before striking him.
Interesting way to clear a gun.
