Folks,

just saw this from High Plains Raceway, which is just a few miles east of Leader Road on 36:

"Hello all! Please be advised that WE have been advised that due to the recent fatalities on hwy 36 there will be increased patrols for traffic violations for the foreseeable future, and the chances of getting a warning are even slimmer than they were before (in other words, no chance). I personally know three people ticketed in the last 10 days.

Do yourself a favor and simply set your cruise at 65 while you're on 36. The fine for 4mph over will literally cost more than a full day of open lapping (and won't be nearly as much fun!). And, yes, they WILL ticket you for 4 over.
At HPR we let you speed all you want, so save it till after you arrive!"

Just thought I'd pass it along to those of us making the trip.

Thanks for posting. Even though I go through Bennett, probably still applies.

i went that way last time i went--because of the fatal head-on accident on 36. google maps said it was slower, but it didn't seem it.

i remember going out to high plains when it was first being laid out--some clown from the track met us at the interstate and led the way--he said "the cops out here don't mind us speeding at all...."

They love to sit there on 36. I make the drive to HPR typically 5-6 times a summer. I have been pulled over for doing 3 over driving out to there....

i used to go out 1 or 2 times a year with the Colorado Nissan Club, but they've banned my car (350z roadster) because the seatback roll bars do not extend over the top of a helmet, so i'm hosed. this isn't a car that's driven much, but i'm not going to alter it to put in a roll bar. really enjoyed going out there

I heard about that. Too bad, but I guess I see where they are coming from. You have good taste in cars. Here's pic of my toy our there at HPR.

Here's a link to a lap of mine as well. Too bad I'm not smart enough to figure out how to embed it.

I'm planning on racing motorcycles out there this year. My brother has for quite a few years now.

HPR is a fun track.
