Greetings.

Work brought me here and I look forward to getting the lay of the land.

We used to do a lot of 5k/10k 'Run&Guns' and I'd love to find something like that here too.

Tell us more about run and guns. Never heard of it, and I don't know of anything like it here.

In Oklahoma every year they do a Run&Gun twice a year, once in the summer and once in the winter. In theory you get the worst weather from each extreme. It consists of a 5k or 10k foot race with shooting stations for rifle and pistol running from 3yds to 500yds are interspersed along the course. The shooting challenges are relatively easy for anyone who has been trained. A lot of people who aren't adequately prepared struggle both with the shooting and physically. It depends upon the graciousness of landowners to pull them off successfully. Their website is here: http://www.okrunngun.com

An even more fun go of it was put on by a training facility in Arkansas. It wasn't costly at all but you actually had to apply to run the course. Their standards were high and they didn't fuck about. Overall it was less than a kilometer but there was a fair amount of shooting involved. They also did a buddy run with a precision rifle component and a low-light run for white lights or those equipped with NV/IR. Here's a video from that: https://youtu.be/3PbQkUuSvCk

Where from in sooner land?

I was in and around Oklahoma City for about 8 years.

Welcome, join the fray.

Well, there is the 24-hour Sniper Adventure Challenge which from what I understand is very physically demanding. Also one of our members (MarkCo) has started a course that mixes some variety of physical challenges and a shooting match. I've done neither so far, but others here have and can provide you some more info. Welcome.

Awesome! I'll have to look into those.

Thanks for the heads up.
