Why don't big box store coupons ever apply to firearms and ammunition?

Because there is not a 100% or more markup on guns and ammo, even at the Big Box stores.
Murdoch's applys their 10% off sales to their firearms.....i think.
They probably don't lock their guns up every night, so the 100% off coupon still applies.

The old 5 finger discount.
My guess is markup. Low/no markup means no discount. Probably making it up in ammo and accessories.

At Gander? Low markup on ammo?

The best one I've seen lately is Botach..."We can offer you a 0% discount", then spamming you to buy before the "limited time offer expires"....hahahafuckthem....

Two sentences. Low/no and then not so much. [Coffee]
Because they're Gander Mountain, we suck, and they hate us.
Hard to give items a 20% discount if that means it is going to sell at a price lower than what they paid..

Don't say that. People believe gun stores are selling firearms at a 40-50% markup. Even when you show them an invoice, they will insist you paid less.

The short answer is: They don't give discounts on guns and ammo because they don't have to. ;)
The purpose of a discount is to get you to go into the store and spend money. 10% or 20% off of clothing, shoes, camping gear, etc, might tempt you to go in and spend some $$$.
OTOH, they don't have to discount guns to get you to walk in the front door, so they don't. If you want to buy a gun you're going to go there whether they've discounted guns and ammo or not.
It's like gas stations - they don't make much profit from selling gas. The profit comes from selling pixie sticks and porno mags and overpriced cups of coffee - the other stuff you buy when you also buy gas.

You would think the internet and the big-box stores would have pretty much destroyed the myth that there's some sooper-sekrit low price on guns. I'm old enough to remember when you had to look at SGN if you wanted to see dealer prices (and when SGN started becoming popular among non-dealers, many advertisers stopped posting their prices, dealers had to call to get the price.)

"You pay us now, and maybe we ship you what you ordered...some day. Maybe."

Have to laugh at that one myself. Got caught up in that "make offer" BS with them. You make a offer, the gauge say's you are in the "serious" offer range, then they come back with 0% discount. What a joke.
