First time (we know of) for that. Yet there have been numerous FB & twiter postings of sexual assaults, kidnappings and just plain ol stupid presented to the general public.
All they are talking about on the radio this morning.

Took 'em a couple hours to take it down. Funny how quick they can find pro-conservative/anti-progressive stuff and remove that. I despise FB.
Between this and the other kidnapping and assaults done via FB live, we should probably just get rid of that feature. We need common sense FB control! Maybe background checks before you get access? Finger printed and checked it you want to carry the app concealed. After all, the founders didnt know the internet and social media would exist back then so the first amendment does NOT apply to it, right?

The video of the killing is on Live Leak. Unedited and horrendous. Keep a wary eye out, he might be in Colorado.

They are calling Facebook Live the new Roman Coliseum.
Rome is burning... but at least the Bachelor is all new this week, amirite?

I wonder how long it will be before some enterprising law firm sues FB for this feature, essentially saying that providing this kind of un-editable platform for sociopaths encourages them to commit acts they otherwise would not, by providing exactly the kind of public forum that these sickos are looking for.
FB even encourages it with their ads "if you have something to say and you want everyone to hear it, use facebook live." Uh, OK, what if "what you want to say " is "I hate you all and I'm going to kill people" (or myself - there have been several FB Live suicides, too.)
I never quite understood the appeal of "going live" with facebook but then again I'm not a teenager or twenty-something so I guess it's just something I don't "get."
Craig's list has been sued multiple times for being the vehicle with which crimes were set up. Everyone knows what this piece of trash looks like now.
Here is my question...why will our legal system not go after the Mom in this case...he reported it to her prior and she did not alert authorities. Same with the therapists and Moms of MOST of the whack job mass murders or random killings. Our society wants to hold gun-makers and bar-tenders responsible for a "possible" but not direct personal connections who KNEW the person was headed over the edge. That is whacked to me.

Are you talking about civil or criminal law? Civilly I know of nothing that would prevent a victim from going after the mother, but of course when you are talking about civil law, you are talking about $$ and when you are talking about $$, the lawyers are not looking for the most culpable person, they are looking for the one with the deepest pockets. Mom probably doesn't have a pot to piss in but Facebook has billions.
In terms of criminal law, we generally only impose duties-to-report on people in very specific circumstances (for example, teachers and child care workers have a "duty to report' suspected abuse and can be punished criminally if they are negligent in those duties.)
The difficulty with imposing duties like this in criminal law is that now you have to prove what somebody else "knew." That's a tough standard of proof.
The difficulty with imposing duties like this in criminal law is that now you have to prove what somebody else "knew." That's a tough standard of proof. Criminal. Agreed.
But the Psychologist for Holmes wrote down that he was a threat. This turd at least claims he told his Mom he was going over the edge of the cliff. If a few people for whom it is easy to prove knew get prosecuted, and we de-shamed the reporting of another who is hurting before he flips out, that seems like a noble effort. In the PC era of "everyone is just fine" everyone is scared to say, "Hey, that person is dangerous" and even when we do, the Politicians and Civil Liberty lawyers, yes even Reagan had a hand, puts the people who need help out in the public. We have shifted so much funding to people who won't work away from those people in our society that really need our help. A civilized society should help the Mentally Ill, Indigent Elderly, Veterans, many have a toe in all three groups. I really dislike that about our country right now that the squeaky wheels are getting the grease.

Given all the documented criminal conduct using Facebook, it would be in keeping with Bloomberg's totalitarian philosophy to require background checks and government registration before opening and using a Facebook account.
Welcome to "social media". It was just a matter of time.

Thankfully he did. I really didn't feel like paying to feed and house him for the rest of his miserable life.

Didn't even cost the taxpayers the price of the bullet. Sorry the cops didn't get to question him about his other claimed kills but glad the scumbag isn't going to kill others or be a long term burden on the taxpayers thanks to some misguided public defense.
The scumbag said he "snapped". No, what he did was premeditated.
Too bad he just didn't off himself in the first place.

This got a good chuckle out of me.

I've never understood why people who plan to kill themselves feel the need to kill others first. I REALLY wish they'd start with themselves.

1) Good for the employees at McDonalds.
2) Sounds like he probably never even ate any of the nuggets.
