The Illinois Firearms Manufacturers Association which SA and RRA are the two major contributors to, and hence the two major voices of, dropped opposition to anti-gun legistlation in trade for a carve-out.

They're now Quislings in my book.

An SA M1A is no longer in my future.

At least if that legislation passes in Illinois then Chicago will be a safer place.

Haven't read everything, but it sounds like par for the course. Big business gets their lobbyists to write regulations that make it so that small businesses can't compete and government votes on it. Win-win <Sarcasm>

I would never have purchased a RRA before this (yawn, another company making bland overpriced ARs) and now Springfield's off the list too.

I have to say that other than the historical models I don't understand why anybody would want an M1A.

Just got an email from Springfield Armory telling me about this horrible legislation and how they are urging me to oppose it.

That's ironic.

I thought it was more hypocritical than ironic.

Springfield Armory and Rock River Arms claim that IFMA cut the deal without their knowledge. They have very strong press releases out about that.

Plausibility Deniability worked for the Clintons, why not.

I don't know if plausible deniability even works in this case. Sounds like the head of a well-respected pro-gun organization has been trying to tell them what was happening for months to no avail:

On edit: Looks like they knew about this last year when it they tried to pass it too: http://www.thetruthaboutguns.com/2017/05/robert-farago/proof-springfield-armory-rock-river-knew-licensing-carve-last-year/
