Is there some kind of resource of people with prairie dog problems can connect with shooters? How do you get started in P-dog shooting?

Those with varmint shooting areas hold the area close to the vest.
I just scored an area to shoot till i run out of ammo. The down side.. Private land, limited number of guest and you have to shoot when the owner is on site. Usually 1-2 days per week, as in M-F early to mid morning.

Our prairie dog spot had a mass die off a few years back. Trying to let them come back a bit. Need to drop some Viagra on the mounds. :D

Shooting a few will actually stimulate reproduction.

That is a big die off. They should come back pretty quick though. I'd leave them alone for a few years too.

Expect to drive a bit, the place I go was after a lot of asking and ground pounding. Still a 3 hour drive, but I have my own keys to the ranch.

I just did some Antelope hunting in Wyoming on public land near Casper and there were tons of Towns in the oil fields we were hunting. 6 hour drive though.

What do you do with the dead ones when you shoot a bunch? Do people eat them? (Sorry I'm totally unfamiliar with prairie dog hunting, but would love to try it)

No. They have been known to carry the plague.

Birds eat em. Ever seen 3 or 4 Bald Eagles fighting over a dead field rat?

Where I go the birds of prey show up about 20 minutes after the first shot for free lunch.

Oh wow. Is that true you need to wait until you've been in CO 6 months before you can get a resident hunting license? I don't want to miss out on this season :(

Not sure. I don't need a license to shoot them. (Private property varmint control).

3. Decide Where to Hunt
Colorado is home to a variety of small-game habitat.
From the grain fields of the Eastern Plains to the
steep slopes of the Rockies and the river bottoms
throughout, the small-game hunter can enjoy the
challenges of diverse terrain and species during the
season. Public-land hunting is plentiful and CPW
provides additional walk-in access on registered
private lands annually. Walk-in access properties
are marked with signage on the properties.
Several brochures outline small-game hunting access areas:
