Heads up! I used the same method as last year log in, go to Habitat Stamps and all other licenses, scroll down. I have 2017 490 res deer, 480 res elk. I believe if you have 4xx you got a tag and 5xx is no tag. At least that is what it was last year. Good luck to everyone.

Go to the Colorado Parks and Wildlife follow the steps to purchase a big game license. Then just click the Habitat Stamp and all other licenses tab and it will take you to the correct page.

Yep, after some more reading it may be too early still...My buddy who hunts archery said it was working. I don't remember much from yesterday much less last year. Well at least you know if it changes to 5xx in the next couple of weeks then you got one.

480 and 490 still. Now I'm gonna be checking every few hours until I know.
I thought there was another way to hack into the draw results. I have to look at the previous year threads.
Correct, what is posted thus far is for Sheep and Goat. The reults for the Bear, Deer, Elk, Moose, Pronghorn will be a few weeks yet, as in they usually perform the draw the Friday before the results are due to be posted. It may differ slightly due to the memorial holiday. I'll start checking on the 25th to be safe:)

Well if it's 5XX I didn't get anything. I put in for some Ranching for Wildlife areas and already had 2 or 3 preference points for elk and 4+ for deer and was have 5XX for everything including the tags that I just apply for preference points. Just have to wait and see but looks like I'll be doing over the counter archery for elk this year.
Probably not out yet.
Looking through last year's thread, Deer 590s showed up on 5/17 and Elk showed up on 5/24.

I guess I'll keep waiting and see. I was thinking maybe bear was showing but not yet deer? Just getting anxious to know!

Couple ways to get in. I actually get made fun of by my friends for having my CCID memorized. But I have pretty much any number affiliated with me or my family memorized so it is what it is. Can't remember names for shit but I could tell you your passport number if you told it to me.
The top list I barely look at other than what I actually drew with season code. Bottom is real time PP numbers.
Thanks. Once you type it in a few times, you only need to remember the first digit of any number, and Google will do the rest.
Probably won't draw deer this year, likely elk, hopefully pronghorn.

Which makes sense, given the severe lack of them in this state...

Right, I was checking the pref points page after seeing 490 still on deer.
I opted to pick mine up instead of having them mailed, as I applied when we weren't quite sure on moving yet.

I think the Pref Points get zeroed out while they do the draws and they will update with updated number 0 or +1 once the draws are announced.
Crap. I was hoping to run around the woods this fall looking for tenderloin.
Maybe I got my second choice.

That should mean you drew your deer tag. It won't specify which choice...but you did draw something

Just checked my preference points again (since this morning) and now deer is gone.
Site says this in big red letters.
Preference Points for a specific species WILL NOT be shown, while the lottery draw for that species is 'in process.'

There are tons of areas that can be drawn with little to no points. I'm putting in for a very limited hard to draw tag. I usually draw a second choice deer tag, I just didn't apply for a second choice this year.

Area I applied for shouldn't be an area w/ massive need of pref points. Oh well, maybe I'll luck out and just smash one with my vehicle and get a roadkill tag. [beatdeadhorse]

I have lived in CO for 5 years, didn't hunt the first year. I draw tags every year..deer and elk. Muzzleloader season and probably never going to set eyes on any Elk, but damn if I'm not ready if I do!! I figure in a couple of years when I hit the big 50, I will just splurge on one of them fancy Elk hunts and go shoot me a monster!!

Sniper that is not what i wanted to hear! Not only did i not get drawn for deer i haven't recieved my refund check for moose. Im going to be pissed if i have to jump through hoops getting to the bottom of that one...hoping it shows up soon

I got my moose check yesterday as well.
Looks like you need four points to draw buck antelope where I put in. Guess that will be a bust this year as well. Looks pretty easy to draw a doe though. Wish I would have researched that before I put in. Oh well.

I got my Bighorn Sheep check back a few weeks ago and the Moose check came back earlier this week.
I don't think there will be any big game hunting for me in 2017.
Going to try and thin down the coyote population instead.
Received my Bear refund check today (I put in for a point if that matters).
My deer tag is showing a 5xx. Looks like I'm good for the year.

Checked last night and elk was showing 4xx still.

Hoping there's a lag in posting some. Unit we hunted last year had allocated 30 tags with only 9 applications, and we were 3 of them. We took a point 1st choice. Mine is still at 480[thumb down1]
5xx for elk. Didn't draw deer. Still waiting on pronghorn. Hope they are doing it alphabetically.
I'm confused now. Got 5xx for elk when I had zero points and first choice takes 2 points and second choice always goes to first choice and usually requires 1 point.
Deer is showing 4xx and I didn't expect to draw first choice but my second choice should have been a piece of cake to draw and went to 3 choice last year.
And I haven't got a moose refund back even though my wife's showed up....so I'm crossing my fingers!

I know a lot of people research on those areas like Sniper and JSLO mentioned. They will find an area for their points or no points and put in for there first selection and then the numbers to draw that area sky rocket. The group I hunt with used to be able to pull female pronghorn with 1 point 4-5 years ago. Then a ton of people started putting in for it since it was only 1 point and then they had success so they still go there. Now it takes us 2-3 points to draw the same tag. I tried to jump in on a new RFW area 2 years ago to get my wife into a good place. There were hardly any applicants the first year, then everyone saw it the second year and it went from a couple points to 10+ in one year to draw and she only had 8.
I'm just confused because these are places that I have hunted for 10 years without much of a change (except when they made muzzloading limited licenses instead of OTC) but it has still remained the same since that change.
Last year, I lost the draw for an area (private land only) that had a history of leftover licenses.
This year, I drew both deer and elk with no points for the same area.
Truly a lottery.
I know nothing is 100% but the area we hunted last year was our 2nd choice. Only 9 applied (we were 3 of them) out of 30 available. We gambled and we lost. Bummed but won't keep us out of the woods.
Anybody know when they'll start mailing stuff out?

Here, too. Just because you fail to draw your preferred tag is no excuse to stay home. The beauty of Colorado's OTC elk licenses is that you can always go hunting for big game. I wouldn't think of not going hunting. Haven't missed a season in 34 years, and there are very few of those years I didn't bring home the meat. You can't win if you don't play.

I have heard reports of issues with elk in particular so far. Says successful and refund check will be mailed. May be having similar issues with deer.
Both the boys got Elk, one of them and I got Deer. All skunked on Pronghorn, still no Moose.

My fathers elk tag claimed unsuccessful in the morning then I checked in the afternoon and he got his third choice. It didn't make sense because we drew as a group and 2/3 of the group got third choice early this morning. Must have been buggy.
Got my cow elk. the wife drew both cow elk and deer(buck) and it was her 1st time in the draw.

Because they make a good amount of money from the interest from all that money even for that brief time. And they pay extremely reduced rates on mailing since it's government.
I'll be busy. I have an either sex deer bow tag for my property, 3rd Rifle Cow and late rifle pronghorn. My son has a 3R Buck and Cow; and late rifle pronghorn.

I'm going after my first antelope this year... 2 actually, but they're for WY, not CO. We'll find out next week if we are drawn... We submitted a group application.

My 13 year old daughter drew a EF006W3R RFW tag this year with no points going first choice. Anyone have experience with the folks at Silver Spur Ranch? This will be our first RFW experience. I have heard good and bad stories about different ranches and hoping this is a good one. PM me if needed.

Finally showing a 5 code for deer! Hoping I drew my 1st choice leftover deer and not my 2nd but either way at least i finally drew something :-) running out of time to scout if it was my 2nd choice! If it was my first I should have a pretty good oportunity to get a mulie buck..might not be a monster but never shot a mulie buck so ill take any decent one with my bow

Well I tried for a deer tag that was turned back in with no luck....

About a month away till we start slayin 'em! Oh yeah....
I missed on moose, deer and pronghorn but drew a cow elk license. Yesterday, I picked up bull elk and bear tags which should give me a good chance of filling the freezer. I always hunt 2nd rifle season which can be a tougher hunt.
The old outfitter I worked for was fond of describing 1st season as the shooting season ("those Denver fuckers!"), the 2nd season as the hunting season, and the 3rd season as the killing season.
