View Full Version : Mas Mle 1936-51
Got it in a trade, and really dont know &%&$ about it, other than military surplus and chambered in 7.5 with a grenade launcher. Any info would be cool including value (came with 300 rds). Thinking about letting it go, just not into collections as of yet. Thanks.
well condition is every thing since there are quite a few like new ones out there. I have seen ones well used go in the high 100's to low 200's.
like new ones that look to of not been shot from around $250 to like $400 but the top end is hard to get for a bolt action french rifle.
But since it is in the 7.5 french you have a better chance of getting more than the bottom for it.
The ammunition it comes with will help on the price also. if it comes with the french ammunition in the 15 round french manf. tan boxes on strippers it is a ok ammunition. if the 20 round privi partision ammunition which is better as it is new.
I would be interested in it as I do have a couple of them. give me a chance if you decide to get rid of it.
thanks jon
oh yeah it replaced the mas model 36 as it was a updated version with the grenade launcher on it. they were not used extensivly as it was replaced with the 49/56 semi auto in the same calibre.
It does look new except for some handling marks, all the serial numbers match. I noticed an E stamped on the barrel. Has a pretty cool bayonet that slides back into itself, and a rubber buttstock pad. The ammo is original french packaging, 15 rds. per box, I'm assuming on stripper clips. I have not opened one yet. Thanks for the info, I think I might let it go, too many unfinished projects.
the boxes of ammunition can come in several packages. some may have a picture of cartriges in yellow and some in black and yes they are on stripper clips. neat rifles. when you decide shoot me a pm.
thanks jon
go out and shoot it.
I think I still have some stripper clips left from the one I had.... interesting piece.... first rifle I encountered that had no manual safety... mine appeared to be brand new when I got it and i think I paid $89 for it.... was completely wrapped in cheese-cloth and some type of cosmoline.
