View Full Version : How to get carpet back on tack strip?
Our giant puppy just decided to pull a big chunk of carpet (~ 4' long) off the tack strip and I'm not sure how to get it stuck back properly. It's a transition from tile to carpet.
Do I just need to get a knee kick and push it back into place or is there more to do? All the youtube videos I found weren't for a direct transition like this.

Knee kick it, then tuck with a putty knife or something
Kick it you may not need to rent a kicker, you might just be able to use your hands, hard to tell from that photo. Then use the but of a screwdriver to force it onto the tack strip then tuck the end under the base.
I have a cheap Harbor Freight kicker you can borrow, but not sure if it's worth your time to drive up for (I work in DTC)
A 2 foot chunk of 2x4, and a rubber mallet. Stretching is probably not necessary. Pull the carpet into position, set the 2x4 on edge over the tack strip, and bump it into place with the mallet.
Thanks for the help, 2x4 and putty knife did the trick and it looks as good as it did before.
