Go figure, the last show worth watching on ABC is canceled despite high ratings. http://www.foxnews.com/entertainment/2017/05/12/last-man-standing-canceled-despite-high-ratings.html
I had high hopes for "Designated Survivor" until they went off the deep end with the liberal myths, lies, and tropes about gun control. It looks like they're trying to ascribe the treasonous plot at the heart of the show to a Tea Party-like movement (because so many Tea Party members or Trump voters want to blow things up or commit mass murder ... [facepalm]).
I sent ABC thanks for giving me more incentive to get off the couch and go outside as well as blocking their entire channel. Nothing else they air is worth watching anymore.

I just started watching on Netflix. I am sad to see it go. Not what I normally watch but it is good for a quick 20 minute show and be able to laugh at something not aimed at me.
I really enjoyed that show. I heard it was because of Tim Allen's "cost" but who knows. I also heard that they didnt even try to negotiate with him and just went full on cancel. I can't verify any of that though.

Just bullshit. Only show on Friday night worth watching. Maybe Netflix will pick it up.

I mean for new production. I was thinking that they had done that before with a show that was cancelled on the regular network. I don't know for sure.
Bummer. One of the few sitcoms on TV that was worth a crap.

Dang. Wife and I loved watching that show. Was creepily similar to our relationship and we could relate to nearly all of it. Guess it was a miracle that the libs let a pro gun, pro trump show last that long...

Ah ok. That'd be sweet!
Awesome now I really don't have anymore reason to watch TV

I have enjoyed watching that show...one of about 5 shows I do watch. What I most liked about it was, unlike EVERY OTHER sitcom out there, the male lead wasn't depicting men as a total idiot.

Ironically, they let it go one through Obama's presidency and Hillary's candidacy. Stretching to give ABC a rational reason for the decision and the only one I can think of is that Tim Allen might not have as much material without a Dem in the WH -- but he's made fun of Trump before.
Kazoo tried to get me to watch it. I saw a few episodes the other day and it was pretty decent.

What are you talking about? The best show on television, period, just got renewed for a 5th season...

I'm surprised it lasted as long as it did, with the conservative themes.
just figures. Only sitcom worth watching. Wife and I both get a few laughs during about every episode.

I tried Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. during its first season. Meh. Too disjointed IMO. I stand by my original statement ...

Funny you should say that. I tried watching a few episodes of Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. and when I saw the post above about it my only thought was "Meh" (Quite literally, my only thought was "meh"). Just not my type of show.
Just looked it up. This show was on for six years. That's long enough. Can't expect something to go on forever and still be good.

Until you've watch Legion on FX, then possibly you might change your mind.

If you haven't watched any of the marvel movies, it's hard (sometimes) to follow along. As the t.v series is the filler between the movies, with the references to things that happened in the movies.

Yes, early on, the show seemed to have no direction. It was basically biding it's time until Captain America: The Winter Soldier came out. Since then, though...
Season 1 second half was about rooting out and defeating Hydra
Season 2 continued that story, but then introduced Inhumans
Season 3 they dealt with stopping an ancient Inhuman (who was marooned on an alien planet) from taking over the Earth
Season 4 has had Ghost Rider, LMDs (terminators, essentially) and then the LMDs put them into a Matrix-like alternate reality

Didn't like the Winter Soldier storyline in the comics, still didn't like it in the movie.
Liked Age of Ultron in the comics, hated the movie.
Didn't like the Civil War storyline in the comics, refused to watch the movie.
I gave "Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D." a season but it was total BS and a waste of my time. Perhaps I would have liked the introduction of the Inhumans but I really don't have time to waste on that stuff. Compare that to "Last Man Standing" which never failed to entertain me through all five seasons. Not one bad episode -- that's a pretty spectacular achievement. Therefore, hands down, the best show on ABC and arguably the only reason to even keep that network on my channel list.
As far as Irving's comment. Yes, many shows peter out after 4 or 5 seasons because they run out of material. I would argue that "Last Man Standing" hadn't run out of material or petered out. On the bright side, it's going out strong and maybe Amazon or Hulu will pick it up. It's certainly a different world for programming than we grew up in when a show's cancellation was the final word.

http://www.foxnews.com/entertainment/2017/05/15/petiton-calls-for-abc-boycott-over-last-man-standing-cancellation.html
Link in the article to a Change.org petition. For me, it's not a boycott so much as notice to ABC and their advertisers that it's the only show I watch on ABC anymore so once it's gone, ABC will no longer be on my viewing schedule at all.
We should have the government force networks to put on shows we want!

We should have the government force networks to put on shows we want!
The liberals have already tried that because their preferred talk shows tanked against Limbaugh and Hannity and company and their preferred "news" shows have been tanking against Fox. FWIW, I think the petition is intended to go to ABC rather than the government. As I said, for me it's just a matter of letting ABC and their advertisers know that it's the only show I watch on that entire network. They can do what they want with that knowledge. Government needs to just stay the hell out of those private business decisions (one reason I do NOT support "net neutrality" regulations).

I hadn't watched Last man standing until this thread, I'm now on episode 3 of season one, and can see why the liberal station canceled the show, that being said, I LOVE IT!

Tim Allen breaks silence: 'Stunned and blindsided' by ABC (http://www.msn.com/en-us/tv/news/tim-allen-breaks-silence-stunned-and-blindsided-by-abc/ar-BBBdpHN)
"A large part of these jobs are managing failure and we've made the tough calls and canceled shows that we'd otherwise love to stay on the air," Dungey said. "That's the job. I canceled Last Man Standing for the same business and scheduling reasons that I canceled Dr. Ken, The Real O'Neals, The Catch and American Crime. And Last Man Standing was a challenging one for me because it was a steady performer in the ratings, but once we made the decision not to continue with comedies on Fridays, that was where we landed."
[facepalm]
That's a stupid ass justification for cancelling a show. Why not cancel one of the shit shows and move this one elsewhere in the week?
Dedicating an entire genre of programming to a single day is some sort of stupid shit from the 80s. How much coke did he snort before making that call?

She claimed it was because they were dropping Friday comedies yet instead of just shifting the show to a different timeslot, they cancel it and then revive "Roseanne". Yeah, I believe their explanation.
[Sarcasm2]
Yeah, she said it, and it has to be one of the dumbest statements I've heard from a broadcaster. I don't know about anyone else, but I DVR shows I like so it doesn't matter what time slot it's allocated to. I also don't typically like something serious at the end of my work week. I look forward to something funny at the end of the week.
'Last Man Standing': CMT in Preliminary Talks to Revive Tim Allen Comedy (Exclusive) (http://www.msn.com/en-us/tv/news/last-man-standing-cmt-in-preliminary-talks-to-revive-tim-allen-comedy-exclusive/ar-BBCGGTa)
CMT may come to the rescue of another canceled ABC series.
The Viacom-owned network is in preliminary talks to revive canceled Tim Allen comedy Last Man Standing. Insiders stress talks are in the early stages as CMT is exploring if it can revive the expensive show at a price point that works for the niche cable network. It's unclear if a deal will be made as insiders cautioned that a renewal at CMT may be a longshot given the price tag on the veteran series. Also unclear is how big of a renewal the series could get as everything from a short order to multiple-season/20-episode run have been rumored. 20th TV, which has already placed calls to writers about a potential revival, and CMT declined comment.
fingers crossed that CMT keeps the show going.
