Which PDW stock and why do you like it? My form 1 is in and I want a short rifle.

Which PDW stock do you like? I would prefer one that uses standard BCG and puts the shortened buffer in it. I did notice that those ones tend to be longer though (overall).

I tried one at Windsor Armory the other day. It was a Maxim. I didnt really care for it because it seemed like you had to manipulate a lever to open it. I am left handed and it was on the wrong side to be easy. I would like one that isnt slow or dificult to open.


On the same line, which 10.5 inch upper? Im not looking for top end or real expensive. Just something decent I can pin on and shoot.

I have an MVB Arc (gen1) which I really like and uses a standard bcg, but is a little awkward opening the receiver (need to lock the extention back, then use forward assist or something else to seat the bcg fully forward before opening). The Arc is extremely easy to manipulate/extend however (lefty here as well), as the extension release is on the side (extention-side).

Also have BAD Vert stock waiting to get mounted, which should be easier to open the receiver and just as short, but not sure yet if it will be as easy to extend (release on receiver-end bottom). The benefits I see to this one is the lack of a gap in the extended position, and a bit lighter...

With both of these, I also really like both the aesthetics, as well as how short they bring the entire package when collapsed. Downside is that both of these are a bit on the pricier end...

I have the Troy - which doesn't fit your criteria of using a standard BCG. I don't use it much as its hard for me to get my cheek where I want it, but it is kinda cool to have something that small. Running a 7.5" barrel on it.

Figured I would post an update to my earlier comment....

Finally got around to replacing the MVB ARC (Gen1) stock with the BAD Vert stock, and so far I really like it...

The proprietary buffer/spring system has worked flawlessly across multiple uppers (each with a different/standard BCG), including both 5.56 and 300BLK, and no issues cycling either (w/ functional LRBHO) in both supressed/unsupressed configurations. This includes 300BLK subs unsupressed out of a 6.5" bbl...

As a left-handed shooter, the Vert stock is nearly as easy to expand/collapse as the ARC, gives a better cheek-weld, and is waaaay lighter...

The LWRC compact stock is shorter than average (comes w/ proprietary buffer tube, buffer and spring) but doesn't require a proprietary BCG. It's also not as expensive as some of these other PDW type stocks.

I've got a SB Tactical PDW brace on order. Cheaper then some of the others I've seen and does not require a proprietary BCG.

Try a Troy PDW stock and a 14.5” barrel with permanently attached flash hider.
Here is a picture comparing this setup to a standard Carbine setup in both the collapsed and extended.
