I inherited one of these from my grandfather a while ago and it is missing the bolt assembly. the gun is in good condition otherwise and i am wanting to start getting around to restoring it to shootable condition... does anybody know where i could get a bolt assembly? or probably a stretch but does anybody have one they want to get rid of?

ive done a few internet searches but have come up with very little parts sources for these guns

any help is greatly appreciated

Try Numrich? http://www.gunpartscorp.com/

This is a great forum too, huge knowledge base here. http://www.milsurps.com/index.php

Might also go to the CMP site and ask around on their forum too. Not as easy to use as these vBulletin type forums, but also a huge amount of knowledge and collectors there. The CMP might even be able to help with a bolt, but they're out of the 03 rifles.

03A3 complete bolts are pretty easy to come by. Whether you can find something from Smith Corona is another story. The site already suggested should have bolts. You might also try Sarco or Tennessee gun parts. I've even seen them on sportsmansguide. You're looking at less than $50 for a bolt if I remember right. One word of caution however DO NOT put a new bolt in and head off to the range. You must check the headspace with the new bolt and make sure it is safe to fire. With any luck it will check out ok if not you'll have to have the chamber reamed to correct the issue. Congrats on the rifle. Picked up a Corona myself from the CMP last year. Hold on to it. A lot fewer 03A3 coronas out there than just about any other A3 produced. The following parts should work. I'm sure customer service can confirm for you.

Forgot to mention http://surplusrifle.com is a great resource for information as well. You'll find detailed articles on many surplus rifles. All kinds of assembly and dis-assembly instructions as well as a first class forum full of info and people to lead you in the right direction on your older firearms. Forum member Rick the Librarian is the go to guy on 1903's.

I have the same one and found the missing parts I needed at Numrich. I've always referred to it as my "typewriter gun", [Beer]

i ordered the bolt assembly from sportsmans guide...

FYI- The bolts that I have seen on the cheap are imports and some are too soft.

Reese Surplus has a pretty decent selection of NOS surplus 1903 parts. Bolt bodies, firing pin rod, bolt shrouds, etc.
