Just curious whats wrong with the Broomfield airport?

Assloads of crowds, assloads of traffic, parking way the hell away and having to take a shuttle bus. Went there to see the B-29 Fifi, couldn't even get within a mile. Made the drive to CO Springs the next weekend, parked about 200 feet from the plane. No crowd, no traffic, no bullshit. Good times vs bad times.

I saw FiFi last summer and parked right up in front of the terminal and walked right in.. I would expect that with the B17 as well.
Now the air show they used to have.. Yes, if you didn't get there early you most likely had to walk a bit to get there.
The line you see was the entire crowd:

I love the sound of those multi-engine radials.
I remember about 10 years ago I was working in the yard at our Englewood home and I heard that unmistakable "warbling" sound of a multi-rotary engine aircraft - a sound that was familiar from every WWII movie or documentary I'd ever seen. And I thought "that CAN'T be - there aren't planes like that anymore!" So then I looked up and there was a B-17 flying right over our house.
Turns out it was "Aluminum Overcast" at a local air show. Very cool.

I sometimes do volunteer work with a group that cleans up neighborhoods. One weekend there was a B-17 in town selling rides. I was with a group that had a WWII-aged gent with us. I heard the bird in the air and saw it coming our way, and nudged the old gent and asked him "when was the last time you saw a B-17 flying?", and pointed at it. The look on his face was priceless!

Can you imagine what it was like to see 100 or more of them flying in formation? Amazing.
Although I guess if you were in Germany the sight would be less than pleasing to you. [panic]

Probably a lot of smiles though in France, Belgium, the Netherlands, etc......
So is everyone doing all the planes getting up for the upcoming show? Last week we saw a lone Mustang flying around. Today there were four small planes flying around in formation over Arvada.
What show is coming up?

Fighters from WWII to present I believe. I'm not a plane guy though. I'll ask my neighbor.

Need more info please! There's a couple of Mustangs around here, Joe Thibodeaux flies his out of Centennial a lot. And there's some outfit there that flies T-6's around too, often in formation.
Sorry Ron, looks like it's just some swap meet.
2017 Mountain States Swap Meet May 27th at the Front Range Airport in Watkins, CO.
Brochure says "Hosted by The Collector Car Council of Colorado in conjunction with the WarBird Auto/Air Show."

There are two privately owned P-51's based out of Metro. One of them flies pretty regular. The 4 small ones you saw are homebuilt RV-8's. They are all professional pilots and former military. They practice flying formation and do some of the smaller airshows.
Thanks for the info. If you know them, tell them that we enjoyed the show from the roof. :)

I think I may have seen them last weekend. Heard a weird aircraft noise and went outside and saw 4 low winged monoplanes all flying away to the southwest in close formation. Since they were going away from me I couldn't really tell what kind they were but they were definitely flying in formation.

When the warbirds come to Loveland I try and go see them. Last time there was a P-51 (two seater), a B-25, B-24 and a B-17. On the weekend that they are there I work on Saturday and make a point of leaving the shop doors open so I can hear them fly by, the tech's get a kick out of watching them fly over.

I'm pretty sure I've seen "The Crusader" coming in and out of Centennial. Love the sound of that Merlin!

The family and I did the walk-through yesterday- awesome experience!

Yeah, he flies that around often. Comes overhead here in Parker a lot. Can definitely tell the sound of a P-51 coming!
Saw 2 USMC AV-8B Harriers fast and LOW over Sedalia yesterday around 11am. It was so humid there were long condensation trails streaming off their wingtips. Very impressive.
