View Full Version : Democrat Anti-Gun Senator shoots invader
My girl sent me this email about a Democrat Senator shooting an intruder. Thought I'd pass it along.
TABOR CITY, N.C. — A sheriff says a North Carolina state senator shot one of two intruders at his home and hospital officials say the man is in fair condition.
Multiple media outlets reported that Columbus County Sheriff Chris Batten said that 74-year-old Sen. R.C. Soles of Tabor City shot Kyle Blackburn late Sunday afternoon.
A spokeswoman at Loris Community Hospital in South Carolina said Monday that Blackburn was in fair condition.
Batten says the shooting occurred when two men went to the senator’s house and tried to kick in his front door. No charges have been filed.
The sheriff’s office said the State Bureau of Investigation was handling the case. A call to an agency spokeswoman was not immediately returned. There was no answer at a number listed for Soles’ home.
The Democrat has been in the Senate 32 years

Senator? Sorry, I didn't see it, it looks like the end of the story got cut off. I didn't know that Democrats would own a gun, just a phone to call the police.

I'll fix it. This is one of the gun grabbers as well, by the way.

Cool, thanks for posting it, I'm curious to see what (but I doubt if any) effect this may have.
Absolutely nothing. It never does.
Reminds me of the late and UN-GREAT Carl Rowan. Who had to flash
the race card to justify his possession and use of an UN-REGISTERED
pistol at his domicile in Washington, D.C.
Of course, he never really paid a price for violating gun laws of
the lawless D.C.!!!
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Carl_Rowan (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Carl_Rowan)
Rowan gained public notoriety on June 14, 1988, when he shot
a teenage trespasser, Neil Smith, who was using Rowan’s swimming pool
in Washington, D.C.. Rowan used an unregistered .22 LR pistol.
Critics charged hypocrisy, since Rowan was a strict gun control advocate.
In a 1981 column, he advocated “a law that says anyone found in
possession of a handgun except a legitimate officer of the
law goes to jail—period.”
In 1985, he called for “A complete and universal federal ban on
the sale, manufacture, importation and possession of handguns
(except for authorized police and military personnel).”
Immediately after the shooting, Rowan offered several conflicting
accounts about where he got the handgun. He first said that he had
purchased the gun himself in response to threats on his life (which he
later claimed had been made by the Ku Klux Klan). He also initially
claimed that the gun had been properly registered. However, when
District of Columbia police disclosed that the gun had not been
registered, Rowan changed his story, claiming that the gun belonged
to his son, who “was an FBI agent and did not have to register
it [because it was] properly registered federally.”
Police officials pointed out that under D.C. law, all guns must be
registered locally; failure to do so was punishable by up to a
year in prison and a $1,000 fine.
Rowan was tried but the jury was deadlocked, the judge declared
a mistrial and he was never retried.
In his autobiography, Rowan said he still favors gun control,
but admits being vulnerable to a charge of hypocrisy.

wonder if this will change his mind on gun control, and wanting to take away our guns?
I seriously doubt it. Someone on the website I got that from pointed out how people like this guy view themselves as the nobility, and the public as the serfs. Different rules for different classes.

ding, ding, ding.
and if the intruder had shot him, they'd be screaming for more gun control.

He needs more gun control because the guy is still in fair condition. If he had better gun control they douche would be dead.

Long time Anti-Gun Advocate State Senator R.C. Soles, 74, shot one of two intruders at his home just outside Tabor City , N.C. about 5 p.m. Sunday, the prosecutor for the politician's home county said.
The intruder, Kyle Blackburn, was taken to a South Carolina hospital, but the injuries were not reported to be life-threatening, according to Rex Gore, district attorney for Columbus, Bladen andBrunswick counties..
The State Bureau of Investigation and Columbus County Sheriff's Department are investigating the shooting, Gore said. Soles, who was not arrested, declined to discuss the incident Sunday evening.
"I am not in a position to talk to you," Soles said by telephone. "I'm right in the middle of an investigation."
The Senator, who has made a career of being against gun ownership for the general public, didn't hesitate to defend himself with his own gun when he believed he was in immediate danger and he was the victim.
In typical hypocritical liberal fashion, the "Do as i say and not as i do" Anti-Gun Activist Lawmaker picked up his gun and took action in what apparently was a self-defense shooting. Why hypocritical you may ask? It is because his long legislative record shows that the actions that he took to protect his family, his own response to a dangerous life threatening situation, are actions that he feels ordinary citizens should not have if they were faced with an identical situation.
It has prompted some to ask if the Senator believes his life and personal safety is more valuable than yours or mine.
But, this is to be expected from those who believe they can run our lives, raise our kids, and protect our families better than we can.

In August 2009, Soles shot Kyle Blackburn, who the senator said was trying to break into his home. Soles eventually pleaded guilty to misdemeanor assault with a deadly weapon. A judge ordered him to pay a $1,000 fine plus court costs.
again..... there most be more ..
He should have called 911 and waited for help to arrive.
Definitely more to the story if he was charged

Easy mistake, opinions to the left almost always remind me of something that should have been left in the toilet.

The shooting
Shortly after 4 p.m. on Aug. 23, Blackburn, Wright and an unidentified woman went to Soles' Tabor City home, breached the security gate and started banging on doors and windows, special prosecutor for the Attorney General's Office James J. Coman said as he presented evidence during the hearing.
Soles ignored the attempts to get his attention so Wright drove his SUV all over the senator's lawn, causing damage. Wright and Blackburn then decided to drink liquor on Soles' dock.
After more than an hour, Wright kicked Soles' front door three times, Coman said.
“At that time he decided he needed to take matters into his own hands,” he said. Instead of calling the police, Soles shot his gun twice in the air, one of the bullets hitting Blackburn in the back of the leg.
“Unfortunately, he made a bad decision, came out and fired, and as a result Blackburn was struck,” Coman said.
Blackburn was treated at the hospital and released.
Coman's account of the events is the first official disclosure of what happened that night. After the shooting, Soles called the Tabor City police chief's cell phone, and neither the police department nor the Columbus County Sheriff's Office has a police report of the incident.
Soles' attorney Joe Cheshire said the senator didn't call the cops when Blackburn and Wright tried to break in because he was hoping the young men would leave on their own.
Soles shot his gun twice in the air, one of the bullets hitting Blackburn in the back of the leg.
lol at the bullshit
(Sarcasm on) Good Lord, that's some AMAZING shooting!
Ever seen the Mythbusters episode where they fire a gun straight up into the air and try to guess where it'll land? It landed all over the place from 2 feet away to over 100 yards away due to wind, air density, etc....
Anyways, to point a gun in the air, fire, and hit someone in the back of the leg is an amazing shot!!! I'm impressed! (Sarcasm off)

I think this is the most amazing thing I've ever heard. They show up at the guys house, breach the gate, bang on windows and doors, drive through the yard, get all liquored up on the porch for an hour, and this guy only gets indignant when they start kicking on the door? All that without calling the cops?
He'd probably also do nothing if you started sleeping with his wife, write yourself checks on his banking account, and drink all the beer in his fridge, but heaven help you if you happen to pet his dog.
Well technically, nearly all bullets are fired into the air, unless the muzzle is pressed up against something or under water.

Both Bush senior and jr signed anti gun bills and recently they have publicly supported current anti gun agendas. Bush jr said he would have signed the extension of the assault rifle ban if it had landed on his desk.
HW Bush had lunch with Giffords and Kelly a couple weeks ago at the Kennebunkport compound.
