Just saw on the news, Triple J Armory broken into again.
Yeah I just saw it posted on FB. Never good to hear about stuff like this let alone twice. Wonder what changes, if any, were made after the first one.

Installation of concrete posts to prevent vehicle intrusion.
Oops, they drove jeep through them.

I find it very odd that the same place gets busted into twice in a year.

Those posts look more like a deterrent for someone worried about their own vehicle being damaged than they look like a true physical intrusion prevention device.
Since the vehicle in question was stolen... well, who cares if they crack the bumper?7069170691
Sure doesn't look like very beefed up security for a place that was already smash & grabbed a year ago. I would have expected some pretty serious barriers. Not far from where I live. Pretty quiet area late at night and C-470 is right there for a quick getaway.
.. I've seen heavier barriers at the 7-11 that got run in to by my house.. and they didn't get robbed when it happened.

That's what I was thinking. Hell . . . the Burger King across the parking lot from JJJ has posts 3 times that thick protecting the sign when you go through the drive-through.

That will happen if it's an easy target.

I guess. It will be interesting to see what changes they make and what all was stolen

I saw on their FB page that they recently got an order of those Maxim 9's in...

Well maybe if they half ass it again, it will equal a whole ass and might actually be 'less than simple' to run through the wall.

The bollards in front of my old store in Florida were a foot thick and heavily reinforced.
Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me 11 times, shame on me?

Given the increase in such thefts across the country, I suspect the ATF will substantialy increase in the storage and security requirements for FFLs in the near future. For the gun shop located in a typical strip mall, this will probably mean all handguns in safes at night. Stand alone shops, like the Gun Room or 5280, that feature integrated security structures, they may get a pass.

Armslist ad is still up too.
I can imagine it gets difficult to get insurance when this type of thing keeps happening.
Who knows if the landlord had limitations for the posts or not. I would have thought something much more substantial would be required. I've seen better protection at Target stores.
I suspect gun sales are down right now. That being said, if my losses were covered by insurance I'm not sure I would make any security upgrades.

They probably feel that way as well, although I doubt that feeling will continue when it comes time to renew their policy with that sort of claim history. There is a good chance they will be required to address security by the underwriters if they wish to continue having a policy, which may have been what drove them to install those posts in the first place.

Must install to promote sanctity and security...

It takes balls to go big.
In my last job I used to see the crash post run over all the time. They are mostly decorative. As mentioned shop owner might have limited what was allowed. Was recently watching a video on stainless steel unit that actually worked. But it was big and expensive.

Good grief.
Bollards are not hard to make, nor are they hard to make extremely stout. 4-6" diameter bollards, if made correctly, should stop anything short of a semi...
I've built quite a few 4" pipe bollards, and have seen them get assaulted by water haulers with ZERO ill effect. A jeep cherokee should just crumple on them.

That took a lotta balls..
Dammit, beat by Brutal!
Funny thing is when I worked for CDOT if there was a section of "Jersey Barrier" that was even the slightest bit damaged it was replaced.
We had two yards in the metro area where the damaged ones were stored. Free to the public, all you had to do was haul it away.
Jersey barriers FTW. That and lock up the weapons in safes.

How awful. I'm not sure, but I imagine they may be limited as to what they may install, being in a strip mall and not a stand-alone store.
Either way, not many stores can withstand an entire Jeep being driven into the store front.
