So with the prices as they are I'm thinking of getting back into the 1911 (http://rover.ebay.com/rover/13/0/19/DealFrame/DealFrame.cmp?bm=1008&BEFID=96424&acode=1017&code=1017&aon=&crawler_id=481999&dealId=YYt24GEP2_G5smBVw0HkjA%3D%3D&searchID=&url=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.brownells.com%2Ffirearms%2Fha ndguns%2Fsemi-auto%2F1911-special-forces-3-light-rail-g4-5in-45-acp-blue-8-1-sku087000110-90047-181063.aspx%3Fcm_mmc%3Dcse-_-Itwine-_-shopping-_-087-000-110%26utm_medium%3Dcse%26utm_source%3Decn%26utm_ca mpaign%3Ditwine%26utm_content%3D087-000-110%26gdffi%3D5e517ec5e60d4cc7bbc235bfc648114c%26g dfms%3D6C9C27AD51E9450CA3659B5D8CC371A1&DealName=Ed%20Brown%201911%20Special%20Forces%203% 20Light%20Rail%20G4%205in%2045%20Acp%20Blue%208%2B 1rd%20-%201911%20Special%20Forces%203%20Light%20Rail%20G4 %205in%2045%20Acp%20Blue%208%2B1&MerchantID=481999&HasLink=yes&category=0&AR=-1&NG=1&GR=1&ND=1&PN=1&RR=-1&ST=&MN=msnFeed&FPT=SDCF&NDS=1&NMS=1&NDP=1&MRS=&PD=0&brnId=2455&lnkId=8070676&Issdt=170605050600&IsFtr=0&IsSmart=0&dlprc=3749.99&SKU=087000110-087000110-370017) game. After browsing around it looks like Remington is offering a $100 rebate on all their 1911's. That comes out to $399 for the GI style and $499 for the R1 Enhanced. All the reviews I'm looking at seem generally positive.

I'm curious if anyone on here has personal experience with the Remington 1911's and would going from the GI style to the R1 Enhanced be worth the $100.

I had a standard R1 for awhile. Fit and finish left a lot to be desired but it was reliable, which is more than you can say for most Remington firearms these days.

I had a standard model that I bought a few years ago. It was fine. The trigger pull wasn't great, but it's was a decent starter 1911. Good fit and finish on mine. The prices at that time were such that a used, higher spec Springer or Kimber was not much more. Now, with the rebate, it's a heck of a deal.
