Rolling joints is legal. Same as it was in 1876.
Stupid should be illegal too, but it's not.
Yeah!! So now I'm not in harm of some douche bag rolling coal while riding a bike. Now, how about the two DBs that went left of center, while texting this week, while I was on a motorcycle? Gee, where can I go bitch? [Shake]

So is showing your junk in public...
Is "rolling coal" a primary offense, neither article states whether it is? If it isn't there is no need for anyone to concern themselves.

It's also not illegal to be an illegal in the denver area, if you commit a felony.
It's also illegal to toss cigarette butts out the window, BUT..

What a dumb ass law. How much time and money was wasted getting this through?
I think rolling coal is dumb. Passing a law against it is even dumber. If the bicycle riders got this passes i think they should be included in that law to protect drivers from protesters being on the road.

Think of it this way- time spent NOT passing more anti-gun laws.... so it wasn't all for naught
Time to make riding a bike without license plates and insurance illegal.

You know I was actually annoyed by this initially, then I just happened to be sitting at a stop light on the way to work on a nice day. In my Jeep, my window was literally the same height as some asshole's 47 inch exhaust pipe. Clearly he tuned his truck to "roll coal." He didn't even start taking off from the stop light or really powering up and it was such a smoke screen that the roadway couldn't even been seen. Let alone how pissed off I was that the asshole spewed black smoke into my jeep while I was driving.
If you act stupid enough often enough then someone will make a law about it.

I agree, but it's not just the bicyclists. It's people on sidewalks and other drivers. I would never have even suggested or thought of such a law but apparently people suck that much.

Yeah, I've been behind a truck who rolled coal, made it so I couldn't see the road. A very clear hazard.

Honestly I found it irritating but never pissed me off enough to think a law should be passed. And still, even though I was pissed off and would love to have pistol whipped the dude driving the truck a few days ago that spewed black smoke into my jeep I still don't think a law should be passed against the rolling of coal but more in favor of making pistol whipping legal against coal rollers who get you covered in smoke.
How am I going to clear out protesters now....

I heard something about some group trying to get signatures for a ballot initiative that would make it illegal for kids under 13 to have a smart phone, or something along those lines. [facepalm]
I would like a law to be passed that requires people to be slapped silly for being whiny little bitches.

But then you'd get slapped every time you whine about cyclists on the road...

It's fairly common for me to screw something up while trying to be a smart ass.
300+ million people in this country...you're going to find something you don't like. Let's not run to the government every time that happens. Remember, you probably do something that pisses people off too.

and cue the full implementation of the nanny state in 3........2.........
I'm honestly amazed that it took this long with all the emphasis on emissions control over the last few decades.
I never got the impulse to mess with your vehicle for the purpose of pissing off other drivers/cyclists. I could almost understand the dickwaving part of it (in the same way I can understand someone putting a louder exhaust on their ride), but the maliciousness that seems to go along with it is crazy to me. It's already a dick move to put lots of smoke into the air around people for no real reason, but all the purposefully smoking of bikes and Prius and whatnot is just someone being an asshole and should be looked at like people that throw drinks or trash at pedestrians.

This. ^
It was only a matter of time before full Californication began. It’s not going to stop any time soon. I think rolling coal is stupid and immature behavior, but I don’t want the government stepping in. I believe prolonged visible exhaust smoke is already in the emission laws on the books.
If elected officials were actually concerned about exhaust emissions they would mandate that traffic lights be timed to cascade and keep traffic moving. But no, they want every vehicle to stop at every light, sit and idle then accelerate from every intersection in Colorado. I know they can be timed because every time I leave an intersection on a green light the next light ahead turns yellow, so clearly it CAN be done. If we didn’t stop at every light there would be a lot less rolling coal, and better fuel mileage resulting in cleaner air.
Sorry traffic lights are my hot button issue.
We need a constitutional ammendment that would sunset every law passed by elected officials 10 - 20 years after passage. Even those passed for our "health and safety". This make future politicians face the electorate every so often on controversial topics, such as gun control. If a law is truly good and needed, it would easily pass another term. If it's so important, they can pass it onto the voters for the new super majority test.

They were screwed with. Colorado Blvd was timed by CDOT about 15 years ago to get traffic flowing. I used to be able to go from I-25 to Alameda or 6th Ave without stopping, now, like you said, I hit every freaking light. CDOT turned control of the signals over to the city. I was in a meeting, and the dipshit city engineer said they would retime lights to maximize the incentive to ride RTD. Just watch downtown. Every other light is green, while the others are red.

Excellent proposal, but the ultimate sunset law should include state constitutional amendments passed as initiatives in the past 30 years, and force the reversal every 10 years. Put an end to the political hanky panky by interest groups. Maybe.
Also include term limits for federal elected officials. No one should serve in the same federal office beyond 6 years.

My new law will help fix this. Thank you for your support
and my next law might just ban bicyclists from the road all together (for their safety) which should save me getting some slaps. My anti-whine/pro-slap law will help everyone including myself.
