Anybody here into the kayaks? I sold my boat a few years ago and have wanted a kayak for fishing for years and today I finally bought one. Now I just need to get some experience and find some good places to get that experience.
Stop by a fly-fishing shop. They'll know all about it. Not familiar with Greeley shops, though.
I have a stand up paddle board and have done a small amount of fishing off of it
Union reservoir has fishing and allows kayaks and sail boats. Not sure if both at same time is allowed, but not too far from Greeley.
Wife and I have 10ft kayaks we got from cabelas , added rod holders , fished from a few times at cherry creek res , and a couple times at Georgetown . Not tons of experience but everything seemed to test my patience just that little bit more ! Lol.

Congratulations on your purchase. I bought a 14 foot touring boat 18 years ago and have had a blast with it. A cool thing about kayaks is that they can go many places larger boats can't. I began fishing from it shortly thereafter and have caught fish in it for 16 years or so. I mostly troll, but, if the water is calm I'll cast. It's a whole different kind of fishing out of a small hand propelled boat. I've been pulled around by bass that were too small to keep and when a fair to middlin' trout gets ahold of your line it's real fun. I put a rod holder on a piece of scrap aluminum I picked up at the scrap yard and can stick that under the deck bungees for fishing. That way the rod holder is removable. I checked the photography archives and couldn't find any images of my boat and fishing rig but hopefully I can get some this coming weekend (shooting can wait).
If your on Facebook check out the Colorado Kayak page. Lots of information. Horsetooth is a great place to fish from your kayak.70937

My wife fishes all the time off of her 9' flat-top (sit-on-top) Kayak. She pulled about 6 fish out of Navajo Reservoir a couple of weeks ago. We've had the 'yaks for about 4 years now and we use them a lot.
She's a die hard fly fisher but found that a shorter spin-casting rod works better in the kayak.

Here's a picture of my boat and fishing rig. I landed two nice rainbows and a little bass. Not much for several hours but lots of strikes in between to keep it exciting. 70974

Don't fish. But Mrs BG and I just bought a couple of these. Hoping to get out on the river...in a very calm spot...in the next few days.
