View Full Version : Colorado Road Rage

This has some pretty harsh language, so don't open this up if your in a company board of directors meeting.

So so here is the FB post:

So Brandon Vega and I thought it was the perfect day to go hiking up off of Old Stage road when this asshole started riding Brandon's ass up the narrow dirt road. Then when we parked he proceeded to assault him and say it was our fault. Road rage at it's finest ladies and gentlemen. He only walked away with a bloody nose and fat lip because he refused to fight over something so stupid.
EDIT: He said his name was Chad Huntsinger, if anyone knows him please tag him, thank you.

So, what kind of force can you reasonably use?

Now some of you have been up Old Stage Road, and it is no peach to go up, and where this guy parked was on the lookout. He might have been able to back up, but he sure could not go forward. I seen some mistakes made on the driver of the blue Subaru as well.

I saw this pop up on FB yesterday and couldn't find it again. My question is why wasn't the police contacted to investigate further?

These days I try not to assume the story when recording only starts late in the situation.

For those who don't Facebook

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fHVJygPStlI

She left out the part where the guy tried to pass Brandon and Brandon sped up to cut him off on the narrow road.
Not trying to justify slapping the guy, but the little prick seemed overdue for an ass-whooping.
Brandon may also want to find another girl before this one gets him killed.

She puts down her open beer before getting out of the car.

I'm more irritated by the title, "combat vet road rages against guy and his girl."

ColoradoTJ

Well, he isn't a combat vet and was booted for DUI and drugs.

Good reminder to mind your own business and not escalate a potential road rage or other situation. If someone is tail gating you, continue to follow the traffic laws or proceed at a pace comfortable for you when out on dirt roads. Let the hero behind you pass when they can and leave it at that. No reason to cut them off when they try to go around or box them in or slow way down to prove a point. Let them be their own hero and pass to win whatever race they think they are in. [Flower]

I agree. Let someone else slide off those steep passes. Seen it plenty of times due to speeding.

So if you were the person in the car and wasn't a dickhead on the way up, how would you handled the situation?

1) I wouldn't roll my window down but about an inch.

2) I would have been more apologetic to settle it down, like " it was so dusty I didn't see you. My mistake, were you injured and everyone in your vehicle ok?"

Aftermath if I was this guy.

1) new dog. Surprisingly enough, very few breeds will protect in confrontation. I was watching videos of people breaking into homes and the dogs not doing anything. Some on the other hand....

2) new woman. I hope They realize that women can and do get punched all the time. Seen it several times myself. Not going into details if I was involved.

3) grown up

Lately I've been seeing more stories about people having problems with asshats on Old Stage Road so it looks to me like I picked a good time to get rid of my Jeep :p

Ronin13

Old Stage Road sounds terrible... Never been up it, but I wonder if it's similar to Rollins Pass. That road is awful, and way too narrow for the amount of traffic it gets.

ColoradoTJ
06-13-2017, 13:18
Old Stage was fun to get back and do a few trails in the winter or night runs for my Jeep crew. Other than that, it has been a wasteland of people shooting at everything, making a mess, and being an asshat.

My last experience was July 4, 2016. We went up to catch the fireworks and some people were parked right in the center of the road and wouldn't move. I tried to talk reasonably with them and they got a little buttsore and didn't come out and say it, but it was assumed they were packing. My response was "don't make the mistake thinking you're the only MF up here with a weapon, and if you would look up this road 30 yards, those are the people you need to worry more about. So I suggest you move and let these people down."

These was about 25 people 30 yards up the road that were pissed off and wanting some ass kicking.

Red headed Yeti could have easily been fed a lead diet if somebody else were driving the Subaru. Both parties are asshats. Will be interesting to see what the police think of the video as I am sure that they have seen it. I'm thinking Big Red is in trouble.

I'm torn about weather this justifies breaking out a firearm. While the guy was still in his car I lean towards yes. Once he gets out I'd say no. At any point he could roll up that window and just leave either way. That guy looked like he'd never experienced conflict of any kind.

Watching that, and a few other videos, there are some nuts out there.

This may sound chauvinistic, but I'm surprised at the number of women who think they can do or say anything they want with no fear of consequences.

Under Fight or Flight. His first option was to flee the area and contact a LE. Due to his (allegedly) consuming alcohol & driving, perhaps his stupidity over came his common sense.
The bearded guy was wrong to leave his vehicle and confront the second place winner. "WE" don't know what led up to that specific point in time as it was a single video and one side of the story (Michael Brown / Former Officer Wilson) among other "videos"
How much of an asshole was the innocent driver? How many times did said driver play games with the 1st place winner?

There are people out there who believe or feel their stupidity on the road allows them a pass. Thinking there are no consequences for such actions. More so due to everyone and their grandmother having a cell phone. Which we have seen in the past, people more concerned about that perfect video shot than doing something.

I'm super chill now ever since I've been carrying. I don't know if the other guy is armed either so I keep my mouth shut and my actions subdued. Never had a problem since.

As people have said...we don't know what went on before the start of the video. *But* that can go both ways...it was stated in the video that the attacker had been tailgating them...so we have some idea that he may have been a problem all along. Additionally they talk about 2 vehicles in front of them...so this guy wasn't going anywhere even if he had been allowed to pass. Moreover who knows...this guy might have tried to run them off the road had they allowed him to get next to them...he was willing to assault someone for not getting out of his way...why not assault them with his car?

Frankly it seems to me he was Td off there was a little car in front of his big bad rock crawler and it insulted his manhood.

Reguardless...the assault wasn't justified. If it were then I would have grounds to assault someone about every other day just driving around Denver metro area.

Except in Colorado law you don't have a duty to retreat. It's probably the smarter of the two options, but under the law you aren't required to.

This. We don't know the whole story, and who knows. But even if the guy was driving like an ass, that doesn't justify the assault. I know I don't drive like an inconsiderate jerk, and I never instigate anything on the roadway (carry all the time), so had I been in this situation, unprovoked, yeah, this guy would have been held at gunpoint if he assaulted me.

82nd eh? Musta been a heavy drop...

Some things never change.

The flood of 2013, there was one dirt road open, from outside Ned to Boulder. 30+ car lines at drive time. There was always some a$$hole that wanted one car length ahead, in the line, and to hell with the person in front of him/her. Stupidity abounds.

This.

I used to be that guy, not road ragey aggressive mind you, but the "passer." Now, I still mostly drive reasonably over the limit where safe, but try to be the passee and let someone else flush them out.

I often drive a little over the limit, but experience has taught me how to 'blend' into the crowd and not stand out.
