View Full Version : cutting foam
I got one of these for fathers day: https://www.sigsauer.com/store/sig-concealment-decorative-rifle-shelves-cherry.html
I'm looking for someone who can cut out the foam for me. The more I read about it the more I want a professional job on this. Does anyone here do this? Point me in the right direction perhaps? Thanks in advance.
The shelf was a gift so I didn't pick where it came from. I got a foam cutter from harbor freight actually. It's this hot knife thing, doesn't seem fine enough to make the cuts I want. I really want this to come out perfect and just don't think I can do it myself as well as I'd want.

I'll text you pics of a home job in a bit. I made a hot wire table and did mine. I do not believe it will pass your OCD.

I've got a D.C. Power supply or two, all you need is some Ni-chrome wire and rig up a cutting jig...... Just a though. You tube cutting foam.
Atlas case co does it charge based on time it takes. (303) 778-7058

I've looked up a bunch, seen how to make the cutter and many videos. I know my skill level with this type of thing and I don't think I can do as good a job as I want for this. This is one of those times where I want as perfect a job as I can get.

This is exactly what I'm looking for, than you.
Thanks for all the pointers I think I've found the answer in Atlas Case Co. I'll post pics once the project is finished.
+1 I'd pay for a service like this if someone was really good/professional at it, and offered a reasonable (not cheap) price. I'm sure I could build the rig myself and try it out, but that's just one more pile of stuff to add to all the stuff I already have, and I have too many hobbies and not enough time as it is.
Looking forward to hearing about how your experience with Atlas goes.
I took my foam and firearms into Atlas today. The sales guy was really cool and wanted to make sure I got exactly what I wanted. He traced out what I wanted and said the job will be done by the end of the week. I'll post once I have results but so far I'm liking their service.
So you brought your guns, etc. there and he traced it out for you? Hm that's a nice surprise.
Yeah, he traced out the two guns and the mags.
Atlas did a good job. My phone sucks so I couldn't get a better picture. I kinda messed up when sticking the foam down, it was a big sticker basically. All in all I like it.
