One of the security guys came by and said it was a mis-fire......don't think the guy who got shot would agree. We had to explain to him the difference between a mis-fire and an accidental/negligent discharge. Btw, this was not one of the security folks we see there at every show. Guy must have escaped from the mall.
To be honest this doesn't surprise me in the least. Use to work the tanner and crossroads with a crappy shop a long time ago (B&D) and use to pray I didn't get shot by someone else's stupidity in there.
About 4-5 years ago a young guy got shot in the stomach I think, about 3 aisles down from my tables at one of the last Tanner shows I set up at.
I was told at the show it was self inflicted, shot himself in the leg. Lots of blood on the floor and lots of cops running around. Sounded like the guy was going to be mostly ok.

Yeah, that was the original word, but turns out he was shot by the vendor. They did say the guy who got shot will be ok.

This is why I don't go to gun shows anymore. How hard is it to keep your shit unloaded.

it appears their shakedown of patrons does not extend to vendors

Are they searching show goers now?

It doesn't. I've worked booths there before and I've seen people behind the tables who have their own loaded firearms on them.

BTW: That picture i sent you , is a bumper sticker.
That vendor is going to owe a bunch of money probably... I wouldn't bring my daughter there if for some reason I had to go.
Maybe I'm just fucked-up in the head, but I just can't comprehend a reason to EVER put a live round in ANY firearm at a gunshow! A loaded CCW is one thing, not so much inside but I'd feel safer out in the parking lot while carrying stuff to the truck. That's where the risk is.
But seriously, WHY would anyone ever even THINK of putting a live round in a weapon in a setting like that? Am I just that much of a boring old fart? I just don't get it.....
It doesn't. I've worked booths there before and I've seen people behind the tables who have their own loaded firearms on them.
I always kept my ccw as is when working Tanner.
That is to say, it was treated like my junk. Concealed, ready to go off, but never shown.
The few occasions I went to an RK show in Co Springs, they checked vendors at the door and made us unload. I always worried more about getting shot there at the check in table with some of the dumbfuckery lack of manual of arms I saw.
Even at Tanner and others, I worried more about getting shot during setup/breakdown or day start/end with everyone unloading/loading their ccw in the building - yea, that's what occurs there... IMHO, leave that shit holstered and concealed.
I was there when it happened two rows in front of me (25ft). The guy that was shot keep screaming so at least I knew he wasn’t dead. I literally thought that a woman got shot by all the high-pitched screaming. I imagine if I was shot I would sound like a twelve-year-old girl too. I could not get any closer to see anything. I keep looking for additional injuries from any ricochet, but didn’t see or hear of any, wonder where the bullet ended up? Don’t believe any stories you hear of people ducking to the floor, I didn’t see anybody hit the floor that was near the shot. I stayed for about five minutes and decided I should leave before the parking lot filled up with emergency vehicles and news trucks and I couldn't get out. I was standing at a table talking to the vendor when the shot went off and he refused to even turn around to look.
It's damn rare for a gun to "go off" unless some dipwad has a finger/shirttail/penis on the trigger. For fuxake, 4 simple rules. This is why we can't have nice things!

Unbelievably retarded mistake.
I've never been shot, but I hope I don't scream like a little girl if I do, getting shot would suck enough without the added feminine aspect mixed in.
When attending those shows, I've always kinda wondered if EVERYONE behind the booths has everything cleared before displaying it. Sucks that it happened for sure, that's not good for us.

That's exactly why I don't go to Tanner. I was there when there was a ND during a show many years ago and I've never been back. They have some serious safety issues there for something like that to happen even once, let alone the other 2 or 3 times at the least. I can't even begin to fathom why the venue continues to rent the space to Tanner after so many ND's.
For years I have warned everyone I know not to go to that dangerous shit show.
Maybe I'm just fucked-up in the head...
Yep

Can't understand why firearms are not check before going to a show.

Was reading an article on a site about some kid in San Antonio committing suicide streamed to social media as part of a "Blue Whale Challenge". The articles below were about whales.

All that being said, we should just ban gun shows all together. That will solve things and of course.....its for the children.
Is that the solution?

Can we just ban stupidity instead?

What Vendor was it? one of the regular locals or some out of town outfit?

A vendor told me on Sunday that the guilty weapon was a 9mm Broomhandle Mauser. Correct or not, I have no idea, just what was discussed.
KOA said the name of the vendor and that Tanner has barred them from future shows.

I think it was Darkside Armory. Never heard of them.
Do they have cameras at Tanner? I'd be interested in knowing if some leftist gun-hater slipped into the show and loaded a couple guns to set up the vendors and patrons for crap like this... I've heard rumors that it's been suspected before....

Crap like this really undermines us when we argue with liberals about the inherent responsibility of most gun owners. The very venue (lots of firearms, lots of people -- at least some of whom are totally ignorant, and lots of potential for anti-gun activists to create a stir) argues that vendors and event personnel should be ultra-cautious about ensuring people are following standard safety rules WRT ensuring chambers are empty and keeping fingers off the trigger. I think I've been to Tanner once, maybe twice, and have no intent of ever attending it again.

I don't go to the Tanner shows, no value either from the vendors or from the entertainment side, I just don't get a friendly vibe from the place. I will attend the little PE Shows in Loveland and Greeley every once in awhile, much friendlier and better deals than retail on occasion and a much easier going feeling. They are less expensive than going to a movie. There is one larger vendor there that I have asked to inspect a firearm and every time he pulls it out of the case he has his finger on the trigger. When I step back and point it out he gets annoyed. I just walk by him now, no reason to waste time with him. I hope he doesn't shoot someone.

I hear what you're saying, but, realize that there are 400-600 accidental deaths per year due to firearms, and the antis throw a hissy fit about that number.
But they don't bat an eye at 30,000-40,000 accidental deaths caused by vehicles.
It's just part of being an anti.

I'm at UC Health Now and funny thing there was a sign as you walk in "All tanner Gunshow staff gets a free shot of morphine with every gunshot".....Too soon?

So do you get a Tanner Admission refund with every gunshot wound? I would want my money back.

All display guns are supposed to have their actions zip-tied, or some vendors have security cables through them. The vendors will typically remove the zip tie if a patron desires to operate and replace after, or I've seen some larger dealers produce samples for stock guns from behind the tables. In that case, the dealer damn well better clear it first in a safe direction, and the patron ought to be doing the same when handed a weapon. Unfortunately, stupid happens.

Even if that was the case, why in the world would anyone pull the trigger on a firearm which they have not verified empty?
The person who pulled the trigger is guilty of violating all four rules of gun safety.
But they don't bat an eye at 30,000-40,000 accidental deaths caused by vehicles.
You must have heard the anti-gun argument when this point gets brought up...
"The primary purpose of vehicles is to transport people. The primary purpose of guns is to kill."

At which point, I like to say "So one is designed to kill and kills less people than something designed to transport people? One of these is really defective then..."

Meh, I went Sunday and enjoyed myself. Bought a gun, some other items and talked with some good people.
I will go again in the future. I go and if I think the price is to high I make an offer. If they can't do it then I move on.
I will only buy if I feel I get a good deal. My last resort is unseen onlne purchases.
But that's just me.....
Took my kids Sat afternoon, first time since 2005. I didn't think about making offers on any weapons as I'm not really interested in buying anything at the moment and all the prices were high, especially ammo!
Wanted to buy some 44mag bullets from dads wholesale but he didn't have the box of 500 with him. Good deals on pistol soft cases. Saw a guy selling rebranded itac and other holsters for totally reasonable prices. I was kind of upset I had bought a couple of serpas (range holsters) on amazon prime day as I really wanted to reward this guy. Darn I should have a gotten a card from him :(
It's good to hear the guy should be alright. And it's a bummer to hand the opposition another talking point.
Tanner needs to start giving a discount people who take a shower once in a while. The air handler in that place can't keep up with the funk.
A 357 mag?
I'm surprised it didn't blow his entire leg off and crack the building foundation
I've been to two other tanner shows with an ND, both were a vendor's ccw.
"oh this is what I carry *hands customer live ccw*"
"oh cool, how's the trigger?"
"Great!"
*blam*
I don't go to gunshows anymore. They were cool in the 90's, and 80's I assume, but there hasn't been a deal at a show in years.
We went once, and picked up a nice Uberti.
I don't care for the vibe that Tanner's has. It's like carnival barkers combined with that smug neighbor that you have to come into contact on occasion. Every smirking jerk vendor tried to sell me some sort of pink little teeny gun.
