View Full Version : Scope loose at base - What to do?

I just put the scope on my new (used) rifle, and the scope is loose at where the rings clamp to the base.

I've tightened them down hard by hand, since they are thumb screws with no screwdriver slots, but the scope is still wobbly.

What can I do?

Those nuts look like a 1/2" wrench to me.

As mentioned, those are nuts not thumbscrews. Probably a 3/8" nut driver or small crescent wrench will do.

Got it! It funny how much more power you get with a wrench. I turned them as hard as I could with my finger, then turned them 50 more times with the wrench. Not more wobbling!
