Okay, two things.

First, when I was younger I used to have dreams all of the time. Then, at some point in my mid to late twenties, I just stopped having dreams. Or if I had them I had no recollection of having had them. In recent months I've had a couple of dreams. Why after so many years am I suddenly starting to have dreams again?

Second, I had a dream I met up with someone from the forum and they had liver cancer and were about to put into some sort of cryogenic state until the day medicine was advanced enough to cure them. I couldn't tell which one of you it was. Maybe Ridge or even Spliefy. Weird.

Booze and/or drugs in the younger years? When I got serious about life I started to have dreams again.

Just 1 dream, I hope? And not in the Nederland area. Please.....

Be careful. You might spontaneously start evangelizing on a street corner with a cardboard sign and a tip jar. You might make some good coin though.[Whacko] [Dunno]

No guesses what your dream might mean, I pretty much think dreams are just the brain processing thru various bits of data it collected recently without any real meaning.

But as far as why you might be having more dreams recently, many environmental things can affect the bodies production of Melatonin, which helps regulate sleep. More sunlight, changing sleep schedule, etc can all change how much of it is produced.

I started taking a melatonin supplement recently as a sleep aid. Had some trouble sleeping, where it felt like my brain wouldn't shut off. Much better with a very low dose of the melatonin before bed. But I have found I have more dreams (or at least I remember them more) since I started taking it.

I've got a very elderly dog (17 year old lab) who needs to go out 2-3 times a night. With the melatonin, i can still wake up easily when the dog scratches/whines to go out, but i'm able to get back to sleep much quicker since I started taking it.

Start writing down your first thoughts in the morning. This will program your brain to retain more information when you're sleeping and you'll start remembering your dreams a lot more vividly. Only if that's what you want, of course.

Yeah, I figured I probably had dreams but just didn't have any recollection of having them after I wake up.

My short term memory hasn't been very good for years now.

My dreams are off the chart, and very vivid. I remember many of them, and holy crap they're weird.

I'm mostly sick of waking up 30 to 40 minutes before the alarm goes off....happens all the time.

Maybe you just weren't getting into REM sleep very much back then. Could be for a ton of reasons like drugs (prescription, I'm not accusing you of toking, snorting, or shooting up) stress, poor sleep hygiene, body discomfort, etc.

Legend has it that Stephen King experienced the same thing but he turned those dreams into books and made a fortune from them.

Honestly, I do have X rated dreams as well, but it sucks because all the ones I remember.....I'm gettin busy with some strange and everythings going really good, great in fact, but the dream always ends before the happy ending....wtf?

Its like hitting the ground in a falling dream. Bad things happen when you get to the end of those dreams...and someone always has to clean up the mess. [mop]

I had many falling dreams as a kid. So a question would be....if falling to the earth in a dream, if you hit the ground in the dream does that mean you would die in your sleep?

Many experts believe that is the case as the mind believes what you're experiencing in your dream is real. With the mind believing it's real, it puts tour body into shock to such a degree that it will kill you in real life.

I recently had a deeam where I was dying, then it skipped the actual death part and in the dream I was watching the after effects of my death on my friends and family. Weird dream but it made me realize I've got lots of unfinished business I need to complete to avoid those things becoming a burden to my family.

That brings a whole new level to "scary dreams".

Good thing I kept waking up in time....lol. (might be debatable among others) ;)

Did Clarence get his wings after you woke up?

I have had a few dreams where it started out good then goes sideways. At that point I realize I am in a bad dream and in the dream I am trying to wake up. I know that all I have to do is open my eyes but they will not open. So then I think that I will shake my body and my wife will wake up from my commotion and wake me up. Never works, she says I am not shaking or moving at all. Eventually I will myself back into the real world and I wake up. Always very vivid and in color. Mostly I dream in color.

Hasn't happened very often but it is disturbing when it does. Wierd.

Dr recently told me that if you're not dreaming, you're not getting quality sleep.

As for dream interpretation, if you're dreaming, it means you're asleep. Nuff said.

I always hate dreaming that I am working. Wake up exhausted because I have been wrenching all night.

I've had many work related dreams, but they are always skewed from what we really do there every day. It's always some ass backwards something else that's going on, but it's the folks I work with, and at that location.

I'm super confused though at how random a dream can switch off to something totally different. Ever kinda wake up....and try to get back into the dream you were having? You know,....like when something good is happening or whatever....never works for me.

Bad dreams aside, it is kinda cool when all the sudden you're driving in a car you used to have, or friends you have done stuff with. My GF mentioned that if you dream about looking down at yourself and observing things that you do,.....it's supposed to be the "out of body experience" type deal. I don't much know about the psychological workings of a persons brain or where or how it messes with you while sleeping, but it actually is interesting what your mind is capable of doing while you are crashed out.
