So before I sold my Cummins I blew a front diff seal on my way to Oklahoma because the idiots at Larry H Miller on Havana don't know how to properly fix anything. Anywho, that's a whole different can of worms. I blew a seal and while I was checking out the damage I got diff fluid on my shirt and dangerlee industries hat, I can't for the life of me get that smell off. Does anyone have a remedy that might work?

Purple power or simple green soaking prior to wash works for me.

The smell comes from molybdenum disulfide...
Which will neutralize when oxidized, problem is getting thru the oil.

Strong degreaser like simple green, purple power or dawn combined with oxy clean (or similar)

I have a solution that is guaranteed to work.

Get a new hat and shirt.

You can always just stick them both in your purse and zip it shut. ;)

So I pulled into a Shell Station
They said I'd blown a seal
I said, "Fix the damn thing
And leave my private life out of it
Okay pal?"

You can just mask it by petting a skunk! Just an idea..

Dawn soak. Rinse, repeat, until aroma dissipates to an acceptable level.

Some people have listened to a bit too much Dr. Demento. http://www.drdemento.com/

For all the work and money spent on cleaning materials, go buy new clothes. Then a visit to DLI for a new hat, might as well file another Form 4 while you're at it.

Glad you got it worked out.

Diff fluid is like cologne...

So does that mean you do NOT appreciate the smart-ass remarks?

With the "helpful comments" qualifier, that was my take away. [Coffee]
