I need to install a security system in a small building. There are no security companies up here and I don't need that hassle. Not wanting to wire the building either.

There are three windows and one door. Are there battery powered alarms that can mount on windows that will trigger when they are open?

TIA

Are you looking for a simple alarm which merely makes noise, or one which also alerts elsewhere?

How's cell service? Might consider SimpliSafe. Works on battery and cell signal, so power outage = nbd. Cheap monthly.

As long as you have cell signal there's several options for less than $300

I have a hybrid system... Some wired and some wireless. The battery units work just as good as the wired ones.

My wireless units take a single CR123 and only need to be changed once every 3ish years.

Thanks for the options. This is to appease insurance. They like to see security systems.

What are you using, J?

SimpliSafe is running a sale on their Leader system. If you enter the code "safenow" at checkout, should knock off 10% in addition to the sale price. Equipment is yours. No contracts.

Or you could do one of their smaller systems for less $.

I'm running a professionally installed honeywell based system.

My comment was more on the viability of battery/wireless sensors versus wired. I've had the system for almost 7 years now, and am confident in the wireless system technology. Zero issues, and super long battery life. I'll use my wired sensors where wires were already installed during initial home construction. But I'm not paying to have wires run anywhere else, the wireless models work great!

Mine is also cellular, with an app to administer, arm/disarm, add/remove users, etc all from a smartphone. Zero issues with cellular vs. landline as well, but I also live in the city where there is good cell service.
