I searched this forum and didn't get any answers. For precision rifle shooting, using a .30 cal Ultra 9 from Thunderbeast, should someone go with a direct thread mount, or spend the extra bucks for the Compact Brake mount.

Zak's standard reply is that the friction between the can and the CB mount is higher than between the mount and the muzzle threads, hence the need for threadlocker.

I've been very satisfied with the accuracy of my TBACs and the lockup with the CB brakes and Flash hiders. Lots of sub-3/4MOA groups, and really good repeatability.

It's really nice being able to swap my 30BA or my Ultra 5 between platforms and between each other, depending on the specific application. My Ultra 5 gets most of the action these days, moving from my SBR 556 at close range, to my SSG3000 or RPR for distance work, then it'll come home to live on my 300BLK SBR. But it's fun to take out the 300BLK and run it truly quiet with the 30BA.

No difference in accuracy , the new ultra and the CB series cans are all built the same in reference to attachment . They all start life as a brake attach can and the direct thread cans have an insert attached at the can with the threads for the barrel in it . Brake attach cans are more convenient and takes some of the what if's of a muzzle threading job out of the equation , wouldn't think it would be so hard to find someone that knows what thread wires or gauges are but some of the stories I've heard about issues with what people consider high end rifle builders is comical .

TBAC QD mounts need to be threadlocked (loctited) to your muzzle threads. Because if you didn't, the suppressor/mount assembly would screw off as a unit.

No noticable difference either way on my rifles

Thanks guys for the input........I agree but don't have that much experience with cans........ and thanks for "threadlocker" merely being "Loctite" i.e. glue for metal!!!!

I mean, there's other brands. Loctite bought Permatex, but there's also Rocksett, vibratite, Devcon...

Went through the same decision and ended up getting such a great price on the direct mount it made up my mind for me
