As long as no CA "immigrants" are allowed in here....I'm all for it. [LOL] Far-fetched, I know. But we can dream a little. The bold at the end is mine.

Calexit III? New ballot measure plots another route to California independence

First there was Calexit (http://www.sacbee.com/news/politics-government/capitol-alert/article129047749.html). Then came Calexit II (http://www.sacbee.com/news/politics-government/capitol-alert/article164566542.html).

On Thursday, people unhappy with California’s place in the United States filed yet another proposed ballot measure that could lead to the Golden State striking out on its own.

This time, the goal is convening a U.S. constitutional convention to overhaul what proponents call a moldy national blueprint out of step with life in California.

The measure says a reworked Constitution should include a provision creating a “clear and reasonable path for states to achieve complete independence from the United States should any state so choose.” No state has become independent (http://www.sacbee.com/news/politics-government/capitol-alert/article118052408.html) under the existing U.S. Constitution.

“The world has changed dramatically since 1787,” reads the preamble of the California Calls for a Constitutional Convention (https://oag.ca.gov/system/files/initiatives/pdfs/17-0017%20%28Constitutional%20Convention%29.pdf), or “Cal Con Con (https://www.calconcon.com/team).”

Thursday’s measure is the latest attempt at using the ballot box to revamp California’s relationship with the federal government. A “CalExit” proposal set a timeline for votes on independence, which fizzled (http://www.sacbee.com/news/politics-government/capitol-alert/article145095209.html). A measure filed this spring seeks more autonomy (http://www.sacbee.com/news/politics-government/capitol-alert/article151659877.html), and possible independence.

The Cal Con Con team includes Marcus Ruiz Evans, who was vice president of Yes California that crafted Calexit I. He resigned this spring when the effort petered out (http://www.sacbee.com/news/politics-government/capitol-alert/article145095209.html), saying that movement’s leader, Louis J. Marinelli, had become a distraction because of his ties to Russia. (!!!!!)

You can't make this stuff up if you tried. Ignore the cockroaches on both sides. I'm really only posting this to show the absurdity of all of the shit going on today.

All these constutional conventions have the underlying goal of destroying the second amendment. I am not in favor of any changes to the constitution.

Jor-El, Kal-El, Cal-exit... I wish they would all go back to Krypton. Bunch of illegal, comic book aliens. [gohome]

Just extend that wall right up the border there.

Yup, and as I've said before, CA doesn't just get to leave the union, those wanting a calexit can leave the country, then maybe CA would be a great state (politically speaking).

It's not so much where one is from. It's what the want to change once here that's the problem.

And a few other inconvenient rights as well.

Serious question: Isn't the Constitution pretty much nullified by Democrat behavior anyway? It would be nice to say the states did it, or the Fed did it, and lay blame. But it's really Libs in any level of gov who do it and do it consistently.

I was reading Drudge last night and saw people openly wishing Trump would be assassinated. MSNBC host recommending Amendment 25 "solution" because feels, no legitimate process. Michelle Moore exclaiming "he's going to kill us all!!!" to create a case.

These people aren't restrained by any pieces of paper. And the funny thing is, even if they were given a chance to carve out their perfect world they still wouldn't follow their own laws/Constitution because their (stated) values are constantly changing.

There's no way to get rid of them though. They need us and will never willingly let go.

And if they did succeed in seceding and become an independent state/nation/sovereignty/whatever, they would likely beg for, and receive, more financial aid/assistance from the US government than they are currently receiving as a US state.

Oh, the irony...

Just my 2 cents.

Yet the South was wrong for wanting to secede?
I'm so confused.

Yeah, wishful thinking for the right, just like all the talk about Trump's "impending impeachment" is wishful thinking for the left.

Ain't neither one gonna happen, no way, no day.

Saw some clickbait-y article the other day that said that the Senate was "6 votes away" from "impeaching" Trump.

I wanted to go into the comments section and point out that the power of impeachment rests in the House of Representatives, but then I realized I just didn't care enough to do that. It is funny though.

I have a few lefty family members who are facebook friends and every now and then they post one of these "impeachment fantasy" articles. They're equal parts funny and sad.

I’m all for a Cal Exit if it means Trump will impose a tariff on all the crap coming out of the entertainment industry that they want to import.

Noticed recently that the top stars in the media are including in their interviews the question:
"Is this latest action of Mr. Trump enough for impeachment?"

It may no longer be a matter of if, but when. But, then Mr. Clinton taught us that impeachment is not the same as conviction.

Constitution is nullified by the judicial branch, and has been for hundreds of years, illogical precedential opinions have been written going back to the early 1800's, with appointed judges covertly re-writing amendments to the exact opposite of their plain language, and to protect the state as opposed to the people. Our system of government is more akin to a middle age society than any modern institution.

It isn't democrats, republicans, or any modern issue. It boils down to an archaic judicial system that is no better than that of the 1400's.

Case in point: the 11th Amendment. Still appears as it's original text. Secretly rewritten starting in the 1800's to protect your State from You - immunizing it and all of it's employees from everything, even constitutional violations. You wouldn't know that, reading the amendment though. The text of the Bill of Rights is historical. The texts the justices have "corrected" for the bill of rights exists only within incredibly expensive law books; not in textbooks.

I put judicial activism under the umbrella of Liberalism. And it isn't surprising that said Liberals would elevate the state (collective) above the individual citizen exempting it as a sacred entity from our laws (and even reason at times).

Some people think Liberalism is gay marriage and abortion. It's been going on for a long time... The 16th and 17th Amendments were especially damaging.

Taxation > Central Bank > Inflation > Removal of state representation in the Senate = A massive all power Federal gov

Interesting that for Leftists, Clinton denying a citizen due process or a fair trial for political convenience was NOT a high crime or misdemeanor but Trump tweeting things they don't like, telling the truth about Antifa and BLM, or enforcing the law as written apparently is.
