If only they'd built out an entire system where Form4s were entered electronically, to begin with.. goodness, I feel like someone could come up with a catchier name than electronic forms... maybe iForms, like apple does? or...

How many more Gov functions like this? I know that there are Medicare processes like this for diabetic and nebulizer medications that are billed to Medicare B. Drives me nuts. They should move these drugs from B to Part D, do away with the paperwork that the MD has to fill out and just process like any other Rx.

I'll believe it when I see it.

Since they are already doing it, I assume that means when you do it. Let us know how that goes. Second hand knowledge beats third hand.

Even if this is a workable solution, they will have to clear the backlog which will take a good deal of time anyway.

The American shooting public, thru the US Congress has put in place a series of restrictions on the ATF that specifically bars them from creating and maintaining databases of firearms owners and their transactions.
https://epic.org/privacy/firearms/

Those same protections are part of the reason why so much of what ATF does is either on paper or microfilm.
I watched this video presentation showing how traces are done manually..

There is a similar video showing the NFA branch.
