Pretty brazen, given that he's a nut.

he said on the news that they were able to identify all 4 of them from camera footage.

That is one of the most poorly written news articles I've ever read.

Well, I guess we need police stake outs at private residences and shooting ranges now.

Yup, he might get them before the police do.

Nothing more to say:

The Dragon Man himself, Mel Bernstein, called the burglars stupid for stealing from him.
"Around my area here, there's over 35 [surveillance} cameras and, you know, they really, really gotta be stupid to try and rob Dragonman's," he told 11 News reporter Kyla Galer.

RIP Burglars. I'd be less worried about Batman coming after me.

Seems like I was just reading about him in a thread here. I know the local media did some stories too over the years, so people knew.

Hitting an individual is certainly higher risk. The stores/corporate places probably have "let them take it and report it" policies. But a person's home? Wow.

Rapsheet is going to have a good day.

Mel was on the TV this morning claiming that "WE" know who you are and that all his guns would be recovered by the end of today.
Has that happened yet?
I am at work and cannot check.

The suspects were caught on camera, and Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives agents have several suspects in custody. The ATF told Colorado Springs affiliate KRDO it was still taking inventory to determine how many weapons had been taken.

Maybe some good news then?

Hope all the firearms are returned and undamaged, although that's not likely.

Thievery is something that REALLY pisses me off in the first place.

Shit bags.

Did he leave the keys in one of his trucks?

The 1 machinegun probably got the attention of law enforcement. They don't want that on the street in the hands of criminals.

So true. To steal a man's property is one of the lowest things you can do.

Did he leave the keys in one of his trucks?

This jumped out at me also. I don't do that up here in the middle of nowhere (used to, but the recent influx of dirtbags has changed that).

He earned his nickname from his dragon-inspired bicycle (pictured) that he fashioned in the 1970s in New York at his brother's motorcycle shop, affixing a dragon's head to a Harley Davidson

Umm no, The shop was his, may have been in his brothers name. His brother worked there and they built (Mike) a dragster. Which Mike ran till he crashed, then got out of it. Mel built a couple dragon mc's for a few people beside himself.

This mornings Gazette article says they have 2 of the culprits.
Claims all the guns and MG's were recovered.
Mel also says he knows the 2 of them.
Camera footage on the news is fairly low resolution, showed the truck being backed thru the fence and garage door, maybe the inside cameras had better pictures.
They show the guys running out with arm loads of guns, they were pretty well covered up.

Maybe it is because it is 3.3 miles from Schriever Air Force base. Place looks like a prison with double razor wire topped fences from the inside. Break inside there and you will most likely be killed.

I was just sent that Camron Specht was one of the suspects arrested, supposedly Mel has a son named jesse Specht who is a known criminal here in Pueblo, so Camron could be his family as well as that is not a common name, i'm not sure though. ETA: I just found out he worked there as well.

I used to work on SAFB,,, my problem was getting OUT on time!
That place is always locked down for something.
Parking kinda sucked too.
Lots of walking as bldg 702 was as far from the entrance portals as possible.

Someone who WORKED for Dragonman thought it would be a good idea to do a smash-and-grab there? Real mental giant, eh?

Facebook pretty much shows suspect is a thug. I wonder how long it will take his lawyer to remove/remake his facebook.

http://www.denverpost.com/2017/08/29/federal-agents-arrest-suspect-dragonman-gun-store-burglary/

Someone posted this to the (allegedly) misguided yute's facebook page...[ROFL1]

Federal agents have arrested a man in connection with the smash-and-grab burglary of dozens of guns from the Dragonman gun store and shooting range in Colorado Springs.Camron Specht, 18, has been charged with second-degree burglary in El Paso County District Court, said Lisa Meiman, spokeswoman for the Denver office of the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives.
An investigation is continuing and could lead to federal criminal charges being filed in U.S. District Court in Denver, Meiman said.

Should certainly be FEDERAL charges made since there was theft of firearms from a Federal Licensed Dealer (FFL). Let's see if Jeff Sessions will be actively involved in this one. With the size of the theft, perhaps the case may actually get HIS personal attention.

I actually believe she didn't suspect it because if you raise someone that stupid it's probably hard to come to terms with it.

A search warrant was executed at the Houseman home. There, authorities recovered firearms including one Century Arms RAS47, 7.62 caliber rifle, Windham Weaponry, WW-CF, .223 caliber rifle, Walther, P22, .22 caliber pistol, two Smith and Wesson pistol cases, and a firearm magazine with a store price tag marked "Romanian Wasr40 $595".

Yup, stupid.

Good thing that one was recovered.

When I was his age working in a gun shop/motorcycle shop, would have been my dream job. So no more arrests? I'm pretty sure he is going to see some federal time.
