View Full Version : Gas price increase potential

Not sure what sort of trickle effect we will see here in CO, but apparently Harvey has accomplished two things:
1) shutdown of a pipeline supplying east coast.
2) a large refinery in Houston flooded.
Looks like prices on the front range are up around 10 cents/gal, but we are also coming up on a holiday weekend which would also account for the price increase.
Either way, might not be a bad idea to stock/fill up now in case it causes a higher increase than anticipated.
King sooper at 225 and Parker was up like 17 cents between yesterday morning and evening. I'm keeping the tank full. I filled every can I had a few days ago because I had $1 off at Soopers.
Noticed it yesterday afternoon.. up $.20/gal in gwv/chv/englehood.. filled up a work car in the morning.. then later when I put gas in mine it was UP..
I don't typically keep track of gas prices but gassed up the company truck today and it was $2.54 a gallon.

Got your reserve tanks topped off? Might save a few bucks for the next few weeks. I plan on using them if it gets stupid up here.
I get it, and i filled up my work car just because i needed gas. I'm not gonna fill up my truck or lawn equipment cans. Remember the .22LR problem. Most of the people filling up wont use it. It might save them a few bucks in the short term. Let the panic buying begin.

I rotate my reserve tanks monthly. No panic buying here.

I drive ~100 miles a day and am responsible for mowing about an acre. The fuel I have won't last long.

Might follow John Denver's purported method:
When gas prices skyrocketed, he bought an underground gas tank and filled it up.
Public opinion made him take it out because everyone believed he was using it to fuel his Porsche.
Actually it was for the busses at his camp for kids.

Likewise
$2.72 for premium at Costco, so that wasn't quite as painful.

Ironic that a man worried about gas ran out of gas when he really needed it. Not really his fault, but still ironic.

Well put
From the NTSB report regarding the crash:
"The plans for the Long E-Z kit aircraft say that the fuel selector handle--which switches the fuel flow between the left and right tanks--should be located between the pilot's legs. But the plane's builder, aircraft maker Adrian Davis Jr., said he put it behind the pilot's left shoulder because he did not want fuel in the cockpit.
On the day of the crash, Denver and a maintenance technician talked about the inaccessibility of the handle. "They tried a pair of Vise-Grip pliers on the handle to extend the reach of the handle, but this did not work," the report said.
Under those circumstances, the pilot would have had to remove his shoulder harness, turn around and switch the handle."
I went to fill my bike this morning and the station was out of mid-grade and premium, they only had regular. Not sure if it was because of all the weather or if it's just a crappy station.
