View Full Version : Altitude effect?
Not a newbie to reloading, but I am a newbie to CO. I'm at about 6000 ft, any effect on pressure?
Thanks,
Grant
Drink as much water as you can handle. Drink often. You will dehydrate at altitude. Everything else you will get used to with time...even the smell of Patchouli.

Not enough to matter from any aspect except long range external ballistics, and If you're playing that game, you're probably already taking that into account.

I didn't think so, I don't shoot over 400m so no worries there. I'm going to dig out the chrony just to satisfy some curiosity on any difference from TN on rounds I data on.
Thanks for the input.

Your muzzle velocity will have almost no measurable change; it's the downrange velocity that changes.

High Power Service rifle shooters from Colorado going to Camp Perry OH at the National Rifle Matches experience a 1/2 MOA adjustment at the long line, some more, some less. Part is the density altitude (thin air) here, part may be the humidity and part the optics of clear dry air versus the visuals at Camp Perry...... probably not enough to bother most shooters here.
