is it ok to use surplus ammo for breaking in the barrel? or should i use my better ammo?

Sure, use surplus. Clean the barrel, fire a few rounds, clean again.
People make a bigger deal out of it than it needs to be.

I use actory that way there can be no question if there is a waraty issue

Agreed. And when you clean it you don't have to scrub the hell out of it. Just a little solvent, a couple of brush strokes and patches til it's mostly clean. Shoot it a lot more than you clean it.

Huh...I thought surplus ammo was factory ammo. Is Lake City or Radway or Aussie stuff not made from new components in a factory?

I had smith give me fits about surpluss 9mm about six years back, when the hammer broke.

Well, what do I know? I shoot Wolf almost exclusively in ALL my guns when I'm just practicing. I love that stuff...but so many people bad-mouth it I sometimes wonder what's wrong with me.

the surplus ammo i got is south african

i plan on doing the shoot 1 clean it shoot 1 x5
shoot 5 clean it shoot x5



kind of an expensive gun and want to do it right

An M1a is a great rifle. They have one flaw, they consume a lot of ammo.

You will probably quite pleased with the SA surplus ammo. I've gotten excellent groupings with it. Too bad it's berdan, the brass seems decent too.
