3 lug adapter wobble

Is it normal for for a 3 lug adapter to have a little wobble? I'm not used to cans having play when attached and my lizard brain tells me this is a bad thing. I searched around and this seems to be a common issue with this mounting system. Those of you with experience with 3 lug mounts - do you see this as a problem? I've used this adapter on 2 different rifles (Zenith and POF) and it exhibits the same wobble on both.

The thread protector is a general 3 lug that doesn't always snug up. I drilled then tapped for a 6-32 set screw in my F1 thread protector.

Not sure if I follow what you mean with the set screw.

The 3 lug adapter threads into the can just fine and it tightens down nice and tight with no movement. I am using a D cell to B cell adapter and the the 3 lug adapter threads into that. The wobble comes from the actual attaching of the can to the rifle. It seems like the spring in the 3 lug adapter is a bit weak and isn't pushing the assembly tight enough against the lugs on the barrel. Just not sure if the wobble can be ignored or if it's an issue (potential for a baffle strike). I'm used to direct thread and ASR mounts where the can does not move when it's threaded on.

Before I call the adapter manufacturer I want to make sure I'n not being OCD over a non-issue, like people who obsess over the wobble between an AR upper and lower. I don't want to be That Customer who wastes people's time over something trivial.

I've never had wobble with mine, the spring in the adaptor locks it on good and tight. If it were me I'd be concerned about the wobble but I am in fact OCD about those kinds of things.

Wobble in can mounts leads to baffle strikes and accuracy issues because the rifle bore and can bore not being concentric .

Alignment rods are handy to check if there is any danger of baffle strikes. I don't know if I would accept any looseness even if there was clearance for baffles.

Call for a replacement spring, and you're right to be concerned about baffle strike. If no one close to you has an alignment rod, i have one.
