This high school student from Broomfield singing the National Anthem crushed it!

I'm not so thrilled with the woman calling the game. I'm not digging her voice. Bring back the gal that sang the anthem.

Monday Night Football picture is terrible on channel 20. Much better on ESPN.

This announcer is so annoying. She sounds like she looks like this:

I agree. That woman's voice really bothers me. Glad she got the opportunity to be the first woman to call an NFL game but if she's going to be on every Monday night game then I might not be watching any of them.

But it's another "first" for women. Your ears be damned, this is about progressivism.

I know what I like to hear, and this isn't it.

The 'A' team was on the first game.

Haha, my brother and I were just texting back and forth about "her", but our comments weren't tasteful enough to repeat here.

I was thinking the voice matched up with a high school girls PE teacher/softball coach.

Maybe they could add reverb echo or voice changer to her voice?

Or they could just replace her with somebody with a less annoying voice.

She sounds like she's trying to make her voice lower, which is making it worse.

Best comment on my Facebook feed so far about Beth Mowins:

I'd rather listen to two autistic cats screaming while clawing a black board than listen to one more second of her voice.

Currently watching on mute. All for having female announcers, and Beth knows a LOT about football - but her voice is unbearable, and that clicking she keeps doing with her tounge makes me want to stab my ears with a hot poker.

Rex Ryan is also an idiot.

Beth Mowins is the worst announcer ever. I'm sure there are capable female announcers out there, she's just not one of them. There's even a FB page called Fire Beth Mowins that's hilarious.

Yeah, the announcer is almost intolerable. Not to erode PC progressive equality stuff, but it just seems logical to have a game announced by someone who has (or at least could have) actually played the game. Sure, maybe she knows about the game, the players, etc, maybe she even identifies as a pro football player, but come on. You don't hear Wilford Brimley narrating Tampax commercials, or Maria Sharapova narrating commercials about prostate enlargement. Common sense and reason are lying dead on the tracks of the PC train.

Besides that, her voice reminds me of Brockmire: (edit: NSFW)

Alright, I've heard it.

Yeah, she sounds like a bull dyke lesbian who should broadcast during the special Olympics.

But, we here at COAR 15 Shooters.Com are much more accepting of all our American patriots, people with gender problems/identity crises, and special needs. I think we should be less harsh on her/him.

Stop everything you are doing and watch the replay of Sergio Dipp on the sideline commentary. I cannot stop laughing.

She sounds more like radio announcer that TV announcer. One positive part is that she is very detail.

As mentioned some orange look very red on ch20.

Holy crap, I thought it was Mary Carillo!!! Never heard of Beth Mowins (to be fair I don't get ESPN on my tv package from Direct), the guy isn't any better either. I've heard better announcers at high school games. And Rick Lewis on KOA is LAME-I like him on his morning show, have met him a number of times at some motorcycle events and a gun shop-nice guy and big supporter of veterans but not for sports-nope.

Rex Ryan is the guy commentator. Former head coach of the Buffalo Bills.

I could do without either of the commentators.

No, I don't think Lewis is a good announcer for sports either. Also agree he's a good guy.

I would also add that I really don't care if she's a lesbo or not...........I will say that some folks might not like how she talks because of her accent, which to me is clearly Midwest like Minnesota or Wisconsin, ya know. North Dakota maybe?

Meh...most announcers suck to some nauseam level for whatever reason they bother you, I have several that bother me when I watch sports that I have some interest in.

Amen!

I am not a football fan in the least but I wanted to see a couple minutes of tonight's game.

It reminded me of a local cable channels high school game being called by the lunch-lady who doubles as the badminton coach..

Fucking awful

Plagarized from another site-but oh so perfect:

Dear ESPN:

We watch football so we don't have to listen to a woman talking for 3 hours. Son, I am disappoint.

Sincerely,

I watched the game on channel 20 last night, and it sounded like some local news guys calling the game. I'm glad I missed the mess you all are talking about; I don't like Monday night football since the ESPN move so I don't watch it.

ESPN? Wha...? When did that happen? From some of the posts it sounds like things have moved around.

I gave up on the Doncos after '87 (Superbowl 21) and quit football after the embarrassment that was Superbowl 22. That brief brush with fame a few years back involving the Seahawks confirmed to me I did the right thing. I kind of act like I like to keep up.

I'm glad I missed the mess you all are talking about; I don't like Monday night football since the ESPN move so I don't watch it.This was EXACTLY my thought. I watched on 20 and thought it couldn't be the ESPN crew because it was SO bad. I thought it must be some C rated local crew.

ESPN clearly wanted it to be their show of equality night.

A female reporter who clearly knows her stuff but that is super dry and boring on top of her horrible voice. That job is ALL about the person's voice. It no different than radio. You MUST have a great voice for that job. She doesn't and I can't believe she got the job without that qualification. Especially on MNF.

And ESPN has many great female on-camera personalities that have great voices that I'd rather listen to even if they don't know every detail of every player like Beth does. I don't care where some left tackle lived with his grandma when he was playing football as a kid.

Then you have an ESPN Deportes sideline guy who acts like he's never been to a pro sports game before, hasn't ever been on camera live before and clearly didn't rehearse his on camera moment. He was amazingly un-qualified for the job. But, Deportes...so he got a huge job sooo many others are more qualified for.

ESPN was making a statement. No other way to explain that mess on MNF.

Interesting. So you only follow the Broncos when they lose the Superbowl, and ignore them when they win?

I guess it is normal to dislike local franchise when people move from different state.

I cannot imagine moving to Seattle suburb area and try to like Douchehawks.
I already grossed out by looking at the "12"and the logo last time I went there.

You aren't alone in that thought. I've never liked that team either. They have a stink on them...like Bono of U2.

Three sentences in I told my wife "this chick's voice is super annoying." She has an uneasy tone & does this weird Christopher Walken cadence thing too. I was repeating her sentences in my best Walken imitation & my wife thought it was pretty funny. Then... Just when I thought it couldn't get any more annoying boom! Rex Ryan. Really? Did someone lose a bet with this casting or something?

I suddenly appreciated what my grandpa did when I was a child while watching the Huskers play. He would mute the TV & turn the AM radio on for the play by play all the way in the kitchen. At the time it seemed silly. I didn't understand why. After Monday night... I get it grandpa.

Isn't the radio play-by-play delayed vs tv?

Gman
09-13-2017, 20:09
Radio is usually ahead of TV. Less processing of the signal before it's broadcast.

Yeah, we'd basically hear what happened before we saw it. It was annoying but nothing like that assault on the senses that we were subject to Monday night.

Good part about Vance is that he is ready to learn. His attitude is much more humble than I expected (so far). He has very experienced staffs and coordinators.

I was really impressed with how well Denver dominated Dallas. They still made me nervous in the 4th quarter, but the pick 6 from Talib was icing on the cake. The Broncos have a tough schedule this year, so let's hope they stay healthy and keep it up.
