I thought we already have a thread going for the new Glocks but I'll be darned if I could find it. Anyhow...

Trying to decide if I can justify needing to buy one.

Honestly, the main thing that drew me to even handling one was the lack of finger grooves. I've never liked the finger grooves on the front of the frame. They just feel weird to me. They don't really impact handling or shooting but I just don't like the way they feel. Handled a new 19 yesterday and the lack of finger grooves was a nice change. The overall texture of the grip didn't impress me much though. Not sure if I've just been accustomed to having the finger grooves and that's why the overall "grippiness" was lacking or maybe I've just been shooting my M&P 2.0 too much lately.

The ambidextrous slide lock levers are nice but being a right handed shooter They just aren't a big selling point for me.

The flared magazine well seems nicely done but I've never found that type of thing to be a huge advantage for me on a double stack gun.

I like that they went with the 42/43 style striker safety thingy. No reason. I just think it's an improvement in design over the original plunger style.

Anyhow, do I need one or not?

You make it sound like you want a Gen3 Glock...

I think what I really want is a like-new gen 2.

Being the Glock hooker, a gen 5 has certainly crossed my mind, I'm definitely interested in a Gen 5 26 or 27 should they come out with one. I'm actually very interested in the G19 sized M&P 2.0.

Need and want are two very different things...

Been having the same internal debate, and as a lefty, I think the ambi slide release will be the closer on a G19 Gen5 (also potentially a big deal for righty's shooting weak-side)...

The left-side-only slide release is just about the only thing I truly dislike about prior-gen Glocks (makes locking back the slide a total pain in the ass), with the absolute shit slide finish on the Gen4's running a close second...

ETA: Having heard that the new Gen5 finish is much harder and closer to the old tenifer finish, that may be enough reason to upgrade for anyone not happy with seeing their Gen4 slide worn down almost to bare metal after a handful of holster draws (a bit of hyperbole there, but not by much)...

Old thread... but, for what it's worth, a buddy of mine has a gen 5 17. I had a few spare Ghost and Zev connectors/ spring kits and we put some pieces into his pistol to see what works/ doesn't. A Zev gen 3/4 connector and striker spring brought the trigger pull down to 3.5# and still had a crisp reset. It feels really good and no light primer strikes in 500 rds of tula/ comparable cheap ammo. His trigger is now better than my gen 3 and cost 1/4 as much. Just my two cents!

I’m waiting for a Gen5 MOS FS C model to come out. I don’t understand why Glock doesn’t capture the market and put aftermarket tuners out of business(I do but they should really shut down the competition). They could offer $1k factory pistols and the hordes will still buy them.

This. I my Glocks are Gen3 but would probably pick up both the 17 and 19 if they have FSS.

A Gen 5 19 is next on my list.
