Lone Tree #7 (must be the raccoons)
Superior # 49
Louisville #50
Broomfield #53
I would say look out if you need 36, but I think it's mostly built out. How much worse could it get?

Woo hoo! Dodged a bullet on that one. Only one ID town on that list and it's 250 miles away.
Bogus list. Two or three cities in the top twenty are in Indiana.
Also, part of their criteria is "affordable" homes and California has a couple of cities in the top twenty as well.
I'm sure there's a similar list somewhere with Idaho being the top place to move. Bailey needs more neighbors.

Yay, another piece of shit article written by a liberal rag without any substance!
We'll just crunch a bunch of numbers to determine the best place to live, because people are just like numbers...
Fed up with Time and all of it's idiotic fake news bovine scatology

Agree completely, but I'm concerned on the impact it will have. Basically a cattle call for all readers to load up their wagons and head to Lone Tree where the avg house is going for around $600K.
That and Amazon will turn DougCo blue in no time.
Great putting my house up for sale this weekend and moving to the other side of the mountain!

I thought Pueblo West would be on the list, but last week I heard gunshots! So I guess it was disqualified...but they are building like crazy here.

LOL! Smart-aleck.
I think that Lone Tree may be up on that list because of the possibility of Amazon's HQ 2.0 coming. Lots of new jobs.
...and lots of new traffic. My morning commute that travels through Lone Tree (University/Lincoln) has gone to crap.

I always respond on forums and Facebook to these lists about how great Idaho is as a place to live. It's unbeatable!

Yeah...most people that use FB probably wouldn't like it here.

If Amazon happens we are going to be sitting on multi-million dollar estates. Our modest household will have to do some serious thinking because odds are good we will continue to be "priced out" of living here to the point it can't be managed.
Why stay here and compete with all the fake money?
I work in tech, so I'm not sure about the "fake money" comment. The money in my paycheck is just as fake as the stuff the US Mint prints, but it pays the bills. The high cost of housing is pure upside to those of us that got into our homes in the '90s or earlier. I may never be able to sell and buy back into this market though, but then I'll just move next door to BG.

If you do you should see about opening an IKEA.

I may never be able to sell and buy back into this market though. As long as you downsize, you should be ahead of the Denver housing game. If you're looking to upsize, good luck.

I'm not about to downsize my 5 bedroom home to get into a 2 bedroom with the same mortgage payment.

paying bills with paycheck = wasn't talking about you ;)
(that's me too)
Denver median income = $62,000
Avg home price = $487,974
P&I = $~1,800
PITI = somewhere around $2,300 if you're lucky
Explain the delta. Talking to people I believe it's either debt (and it doesn't stop with housing) so yes very "fake" or equity brought in from a previously inflated "market." It sure as hell isn't what people are paid like us because that doesn't explain these prices. Or the new cars. Or the trips to Whole Foods. Or the paid housekeeping, lawn services, etc...
0% Fed rates for the last 10 years helps explain the debt. Imagine what a market based rate would do!
I'm not jeally, I just think it's insane and a lot of people won't be able to afford to live here before long.

Exactly, don't downsize in the Denver Metro, downsize in a county 100 miles east or west of the I25 corridor.

...and then the tradeoff is giving up 3 hours of your life per day being stuck in commuter traffic. What's your time worth to you?
I either need to win the lottery (which my wife reminds me I have to buy a ticket to win), or I have to be able to move somewhere else that has less expensive housing + good employment + Pro 2A government + a place that I would like to live. Getting all of those in alignment is the tricky part. When it's pick 3 or fewer, which do you give up?
By the way, I hear that shopping at Whole Paycheck isn't what it used to be before Amazon bought them. But I don't know, I've been a lifelong Kroger shopper so I don't go there.
I don't want to live in any of those towns. In fact, I avoid them.
I'm going to give a hard pass on #6 Dickinson, ND and Williston, ND. I'd move back to #99 - Rapid City, SD in a hot minute or anywhere in the Black Hills.
If property values continue to go up, I'm just going cash in and move. There are other places to work and play.

There will sure be a lot of downsides, but the upside was that the "average" paycheck for working at the new HQ would be somewhere around $100,000/yr. Mind you, that's straight from the news reporters and so could be wrong. Or could be counting in benefits. Or something.

Or they were lied to by a politician trying to give them a tax break or they pulled a figure out of their butt or something.

Yes, it would be good for some people for a little while. But soon $100K a year will be like $40K/year was 10 years ago.

All kidding aside, here's their announcement: https://www.amazon.com/b?ie=UTF8&node=17044620011
looks like it's not moving their HQ, but creating a 2nd... and if they do lots of software development and network engineering out of there, then $100k isn't unheard of, especially if that includes benefits.. a quick search for warehouse positions found them to be around $13/hr in CA and MA

There would definitely be a lot of downsides to having Amazon HQ here in Colorado, not the least of which is accelerating the liberalization of the state's politics. As far as the average paycheck goes, the problem with that idea is that it won't be Coloradans getting those fat paychecks. If Amazon does what I expect and have seen from other companies that built big new HQ, all the high-paying jobs will be filled by people they bring in with them. Of course they'll hire locals for janitorial services, warehouse ops, etc. but not for the executive or engineering jobs (or if locals are hired for those, it'll be through a large nationwide HR search that just happens to find someone in CO).
As far as I'm concerned, Bezos should stay on either coast and get the next hurricane sitting on his estate.

Or ya'll can bitch about property taxes while working like a slave for the next thirty years. Up to you. When you net worth increases dramatically without any effort on your part (Generally addressing east slopers, not anyone specific), I don't really feel sympathy. Use it.
And if they eliminate state tax deductions, watch out! (Yes, odds are low but it would help end the federal subsidies to state-level tyrants)
Does anyone own w-w-w.ar-15-id?
ETA: To remove auto hyperlink that doesn't work because we can in fact take this party on the road

I'm still looking for something like this board in TX... if it exists, I haven't found it yet.
There are some gun boards, just not the same.
