Will I be able to carry on a 0% lower onto an airplane (domestic flight) or will it get confiscated?

In a rational world, there should be no issue. In the world in which we live, UPS the thing to your destination.

I cannot imagine it not only be confiscated but you being asked some questions that may or may not involve a body cavity search.

Are you willing to try it and tell us the story afterward?

Not worth the risk.

Legally, it's not a firearm and so you wouldn't be breaking any laws or regulations. But why set yourself up for the potential hassles? Flying is already so much fun......

^^^Unfortunately, that's not the case.

Doesn't matter that it's not a firearm, anything recognizable as a firearm part/accessory (no matter how insignificant) in carry-on luggage will get flagged by TSA.

They may not confiscate it and allow you to go back out and place it in checked luggage, but TSA will at a minimum file a formal incident report (expect to miss that flight unless you have plenty of time), and possibly get local/airport PD involved...

You are completely correct. Thanks for pointing it out.

A fried has a key to his house that's shaped like an AK. They gave him a major hassle and tried to confiscate it the last time he flew.

Not worth the risk.

I would agree. FYI: This was not a totally hypothetical question. I am flying soon, I did purchase said lower, I would like to give it to a friend where I will be visiting, and I am only taking a carry-on. I figured there may be someone here that had real world TSA info or could relate to a similar experience- thanks DireWolf. Looks like I'll be stopping at UPS soon.

By the way, here is the TSA carry-on firearms page: https://www.tsa.gov/travel/security-screening/whatcanibring/firearms

Parts of Guns and Firearms
Carry On Bags: No
Checked Bags: Yes (Special Instructions)
Firearm parts, including magazines, clips, bolts and firing pins, are prohibited in carry-on, but may be transported in checked bags. Check with your airline to see if they allow firearms in checked bags. Read the guidelines for traveling with firearms.
When traveling, be sure to comply with the laws concerning possession of firearms as they vary by local, state and international government.

Now I know why they take nail clippers with a file. Someone might complete that part on the flight. [Sarcasm2]

Nope. Not allowed. Will be removed. Police will be called. Day will be ruined.

They also don't like 0%/blocks of metal. They will be confiscated.

I carry on a AR hammer turned bottle opener key chain and have never been questioned in 10 + flights.

You can passthat offto the inknowing. Nect time doit with a trigger keychain. The other part of that is, it depends on the screener.
