No real details so far, Jeffco has set up a command post in the Kohls parking lot at C-470 and Kipling, sounds like they have jeffco sheriffs all over the area, checking with businesses for possible security camera footage.

A Jefferson County deputy fired his weapon Thursday afternoon while investigating a shots fired call in the area of South Kipling Parkway and West Chatfield Avenue.
Details about the incident were sparse, but in a tweet, the Jefferson County Sheriff's Office said the incident stemmed from a call about a traffic complaint that came in just after 3:40 p.m.
This was followed by the call about shots fired, and that's when the deputy fired his weapon, according to a tweet from the JCSO.
The deputy wasn't hurt. It's unclear if any suspects have been taken into custody.

Primary police activity seems to be kipling just south of Chatfield ave, blocking off the Taco Bell/Arbys/Orielly auto parts, and also on the west side of Kipling, there is a car sideways on the sidewalk about 30 feet off kipling, in front of the Abra and Deer Creek Animal hospital. Back window of the car appears to be shot out.

From fox31 news:
There was a report of a reckless driver on C470 who exited at Kipling and went northbound. The suspect park outside an O’Reilly auto parts store nearby. The car was unoccupied when the deputy arrived according to Techmeyer.
The deputy approached the suspect when he came out of the store to get into the car. Techmeyer said there was a confrontation. The suspect was pronounced dead on the scene.

Awfully big gaps in that reporting. LOL

Yeah, like some homework problems, "The rest is left to the student."

Interesting. I had lunch at that KFC/Taco Bell about two hours before the incident. We did not hear any sirens at our office further west on Chatfield.
Yeah, like some homework problems, "The rest is left to the student."
"A train is leaving Chicago for New York at 60 mph. Another train is leaving New York for Chicago at 45 mph. What size shoes does each conductor wear?"
I guess "no word on any suspects" means "DRT".
I went through that intersection heading east on Chatfield about 4:45. There must have been 25 LEO cars blocking Kipling traffic and doing investigations. Yellow police line tape was really taking a beating in the wind!

Saw a picture of the recently departed on 9News. He looks like the type to be voted "Most Likely To Be Shot By Police". I'm far more concerned with how the deputy is handling this.

Does look like a nice little target right between his runnin' lights.
Kinda funny how the only picture of the guy is a mug shot.
I hope the officer isn't Caucasian. The media will likely paint him as a racist white supremacist who shot that poor Jewish kid.
It will be interesting to see how it plays out

From the JeffCo SO Facebook...
Officer-involved shooting in south Jeffco
Man pronounced deceased on scene
On Thursday, September 21, at 3:42 p.m. the Sheriff’s Office received a 911 call regarding a reckless driver on east bound C-470. The caller reported that a black Audi sedan was speeding and passing cars on the shoulder of the road. The Audi then exited onto north bound Kipling Parkway.
A deputy located the unoccupied Audi parked at an O’Reilly’s Auto Parts store located in the southeast corner of South Kipling Parkway and West Chatfield Ave. The deputy observed the driver come out of the store and contacted him in the parking lot.
The deputy repeatedly instructed the driver to stop, but he refused to comply with the deputy’s instructions and instead jumped into the driver’s seat of the Audi. The deputy continued to the driver’s side door of the Audi and during that contact, a confrontation occurred resulting in the deputy shooting the driver.
The Audi then left the parking lot and travelled west across Kipling and came to rest on the west side embankment. Medical arrived and declared the driver deceased on scene. The deputy was uninjured.
The Jefferson County Critical Incident Response Team (CIRT team) responded to the scene and is responsible for conducting an independent review of the circumstances involved in all officer involved shootings. The CIRT team is comprised of investigators from various Jefferson County law enforcement agencies uninvolved in the incident.
Per standard protocol, the deputy involved in the shooting has been placed on routine administrative leave pending the outcome of the investigation.
The decedent has been identified as Austin Dunsmore, 25 years old. This is a recent mugshot of Dunsmore.

Absolutely correct! My "Give-A-****" meter for the deceased is pegged at zero.
