Once again firearm mfg and owners able to think outside the box have given us another product. From No, Bayonet lug, flash hider or folding stock (1994) AWB, or No AK's import ban. American Companies have stepped up to make products that allow one to have fun.
Someone explain how this avoids the NFA and whatnot please.

Same way suppressed airguns do. They are not "firearms".

I did not know this

Yup. And modern muzzleloaders aren't some under-powered toy either. 245gr projectile heading downrange at 2,000fps? That's legit.

And just over 24 hours after product launch...
“Upon launching the Maxim 50, SilencerCo received several immediate legal challenges from authorities and lawyers in the states of New Jersey, Massachusetts, and California. Since we have no desire to place any consumer in a situation where they may get arrested and charged with a felony because their state defines a firearm differently than the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (BATFE), we have placed orders from those states on hold and are refunding customers pending legal confirmation. We will update our customers as soon as we have multiple source verification.”

Legit yes, subsonic no.That's the beauty of them, you can change your load however you want with ease. Although I've had no reason to try it, I'm sure getting a subsonic load wouldn't be too hard.
Wonder what the sight options are to be legal for hunting during muzzleloader season in CO.

Of course!
Libs: The Second Amendment only applies to muskets
SilencerCo: Okay
Libs: We didn't mean that

Can't use optics.
k. Only open or iron sights allowed in muzzleloading seasons. Fiber optics
and fluorescent paint incorporated into or on open or iron sights
are legal. Scopes or any sighting device using artificial light, batteries
and electronic gear are prohibited during muzzleloading seasons.

Using optics means you hunt in normal rifle season...

Does "optics" include a red dot? Or is it only magnified optics?
It's in his quote above. Nope
Of course!

Caused an actual lol.
Does "optics" include a red dot? Or is it only magnified optics? What if your red dot didn't use batteries? Maybe use a light pipe of some kind to gather and redirect natural light?

Optics are not allowed. If there is a lens and you use it in the ML season, it is illegal. Trijicons are illegal in ML season.

How is this possible????

I can't wait for the first politician who wants to ban this to try and explain their reasoning. This is what happens when gun laws are made by people who know absolutely nothing about laws.

Didn't a guy get arrested a while back in NY because he had a muzzleloader round in his car? No rifle, powder, or primer - just the big scary looking slug.
Yeah, the people that write laws.....[facepalm]

“Did you really think we want those laws observed?" said Dr. Ferris. "We want them to be broken. You'd better get it straight that it's not a bunch of boy scouts you're up against... We're after power and we mean it... There's no way to rule innocent men. The only power any government has is the power to crack down on criminals. Well, when there aren't enough criminals one makes them. One declares so many things to be a crime that it becomes impossible for men to live without breaking laws. Who wants a nation of law-abiding citizens? What's there in that for anyone? But just pass the kind of laws that can neither be observed nor enforced or objectively interpreted – and you create a nation of law-breakers – and then you cash in on guilt. Now that's the system, Mr. Reardon, that's the game, and once you understand it, you'll be much easier to deal with.”

Too bad Jesus didn't have one of these when the Roman soldiers arrested him. It might have changed the world...
