View Full Version : Bow Hunters any Luck?
Got this one on the last day a couple of hours before sunset. Steady rain and lots of animals moving. He stopped on the other side of a tree and was able to shoot through a gap in the tree and nail him with a lung AND heart shot.

Bow hunting deer in the rain is tough perseverance. Connecting is sweet success and well deserved. Congratulations! Show us a pic if you can.

Blank space in post #5 but the link worked. A White-tailed! Nice, where did you get him?

Poudre River north of fort collins. Private land that I'm EXTREMELY lucky to be able to hunt.
You are lucky to hunt private land. I've never hunted White-tailed but I understand some are moving into the mountains. If it becomes common at some point the CPW may have to issue either-species permits.
Well I think I fixed the original link on the original post. Can you confirm?

They do issue white tail only tags but they are usually for specific areas mostly out east. The tag I usually get is for DEER Either Sex Archery for units 7,8,9,19,191 all under one tag.

Yes, the photo shows in post #1 now. It looks like 30-35 lbs. of nice venison steaks and sausage.
Oh yea, a perfect shot too, good job, Bryjcom!

If I remember right he was 81lbs hanging. The guys at the processor said add a 100lbs and that's their live weight. a few years ago I shot a nice 5x4 that weighed 106lbs hanging.
Nice work! Good looking 8!
You will probably get around 40-60lbs of meat depending on how much you do as sausage/brats or whatever takes on a lot of extras.
Enjoy it!

I wasn't able to go elk hunting, knee surgery.
Father and his crew got 4 elk total I believe. (Traditional Archery) No photos to share at the moment.
Nice deer!
