Well, only drew 1 tag, at least it was a buck tag. Any way, I was setting down glassing looking at 40 or 50 antelope and trying to decide how in the world I could put a stock on anything when I spot a buck and doe start walking in my direction. After about 20 minutes he gets in range. The wind was 15 gusting 26 slighly quartering towards their direction. The doe was about 35 yards in front of him. I had to shift a little for the shot and my leg was starting to go asleep, the doe busted me. She was staring right at me so I drop the binoculars and got ready to shoot. The buck wasn't paying any attention to me and took a couple more steps. He stopped perfectly broad side. I touched off the shot and lucked out. I estimated the yardage at 350 to 400yds. It was more like 300yds. With the doe staring at me I didn't use my range finder.

He is the biggest buck I have taken. He is very thick at the base. The talley is as follows:
Right side 14" long 7 1/4" girth
Left side 11 1/4" long 7 girth.
He must have been fighting hard.
You can see from the pictures how flat it is and by my hat how strong the wind was blowing.

It had snowed over the weekend and if I didn’t have chains I would have never made it in. It took about 2 hours to go 24 miles on axle grease.

great job!
You wouldn't need those chains if you bought a real truck like a GMC[Beer][ROFL1]

I kid I kid!

Nice loper, I didn't draw this year, so i am hopeful for next year!

Good luck with next years draw.

I always put in for 3 tags one type 1 and 2 type 6 tags. I usually get at least 2, not so this year. maybe I was really lucky to get those tags before.

I know what you mean about a real truck. This Ford doesn't handle as well in the snow or mud as other trucks I have owned. I think it may because of the weight on the front end from the diesel. Just guessing as I never owned one before. However driving on that axle grease I don't know if anything would have made a difference.

What part of the state did you hunt?

South central near Laramie. The land is hunted fairly heavy. I always wait until around the 3rd week of season to go. By then they are very wary, but I almost never see anyone else hunting (the trade off I except).
