What we need are people that can concentrate on anything for more than 2 seconds. We need people that don't have a Pavlovian response every time their phone beeps or buzzes...or checks it for signs of life because it hasn't done anything for 20 seconds. Nothing is that important. Leave the phone in your purse or pocket and drive. Your digital world will still be there when you arrive at your destination.

Its a huge problem. I commute downtown most days and get to see quite a bit. People running into the back of other cars, swerving, going the speed limit in the left lane of I-25 (why), and dangerous driving in general. When I get a chance to look at the person in question, they are either 1) texting, or 2) talking on their phone. Sad.

I commuted from Thornton to Ft. Collins every day for 10 years. Every time I thought I had seen everything, someone would come up with a different kind of stupid.

People texting, talking, eating cereal, doing makeup, reading papers or books...the list goes on.

No matter what speed I drove, I was either getting run over or running someone down.

One day, I decided to punch in 70 mph in the cruise control. I let traffic flow by, it was ok. Until I nearly rear-ended a guy doing 45 mph. WTF?
