View Full Version : Old George is no longer acceptable
Grow a friggen backbone and stand up to protect our history. These "offended parties" are trying to push bounderies to see how far they can get. Stand firm and tell them to f#ck off instead of catering.

So what if he was a slave owner. It was commonplace in that era by both euro-americans and the African nations that sold their fellow African slaves to the Europeans.
Go ahead and remove the symbols, and eventually you lose the history and your reason for grieving will be long gone and forgotten. Then you will be called lazy bums instead of repressed since no one would know what slavery was or that it even existed.

They want to rewrite history so that it's nothing like how it actually happened. They want to destroy everything about this country.

Space aliens have taken over their brains telepathically. The aliens are coming to kill us all. They want the planet. This sermon is over.

I need to read 1984 again.
I guess their next step is to re-write the Bible.

I think Brave New World may be more applicable. Both excellent books and I would consider them essential reads along with Atlas Shrugged.
So much to read, so little time. Audio books and long drives are a great combination.

That's already done been did. Modern examples include the NIV and "The Message" translation (the latter being so egregious in its translation that even Luther, Calvin, and Zwingli would have had a conniption fit).
James K. Fitzpatrick has a really good book which destroys the Hippie Jesus trope, if you're interested:

Were all references to "slavery" or "slave" removed? Even the words "servant", "service", or "servitude" could be triggers. [Sarcasm2]
Those who cannot learn from history are doomed to repeat it.
Generations from now when nobody knows anything about slavery ever existing those people who will find themselves enslaved can blame their ancestors who chose to forget.
This is insane! Are people in power THAT afraid to stand up and oppose crap like this?? IT IS OUR HISTORY...period!
Mt. Rushmore is no doubt a target of these clueless idiots and if they get their way, that's going to be a bad day.
I am 99.98% sure that at least one of my ancestor was a slave/servant and at least one had slave/servant in past 800 years.
I am 99% sure their great^10 grandparents did too.
It's things like this that make me wonder if there's a conspiracy to gas light me everywhere I go. All great people have something less than perfect in their past. Maybe you grandpa drank too much, maybe a great uncle smoked too much. I'm assuming I'm going to get chastised for my harm of the environment in my youth with my many dirty V8 cars. You cant judge the past by today's benchmarks.
Everyone said we were crazy by saying that removing civil war monuments was the start of a slippery slope to remove more.
Who's crazy now?
