First off I really don't know much about knives and the various blade materials. I'm looking into picking up a Boker Kalashnikov Auto for a work knife and I'm not sure what would be my best option? I have some knives with S30V blades but dont know anything about the XHP material. Anyway, here is a couple links showing the two I can't decide between. Is the XHP blade worth the extra $20 over the S30V? TIA

What kind of "work" are you expecting to do with your knife?
For most daily usage (cutting boxes, cordage, and around the house stuff) either will do you just fine. Unless you're using it for more precision work, or you just want piece of mind and less work to keep it sharp, you could even go with a cheaper knife/steel.

Here's a link to some comparisons.

You might want to consider the cheaper alternatives that Walker2970 mentioned if you don't need something with a premium steel.

Thanks for the advise. I picked up the S30V blade model as my quick search showed that was a little tougher than the XHP. I did check out the website several times that you linked before my purchase. I usually buy cheap knives for work and wanted something with better edge retention....currently using an AUS8 blade and I have to sharpen way too often. My Boker should be here tomorrow and look forward to using it!!
